Well, Maholm pitched pretty good with the exception of that one homerun.

He lead the league in ERA and strikeouts though.

My point is that there is so much convergence at the top of the traditional pitching stats among 4-5 pitchers that it wouldn't surprise me if playing on a playoff team served as some sort of tiebreaker.

Kemp vs. Braun last year is a good example.

It was pretty ridiculous that the voters went with Braun due to his team making the playoffs.

Actually Weaver led the league in K's that year, but both of our points are the same.

If Felix can close out the season the same way he's pitched the last two months, he's going to run away with it. That's a big if though.

              Holy Crap!

The Blue Jays actually won a game and scored more than 3 runs!

Of course it came with a price as Henderson Alvarez had to leave the game "sigh"

Don't take it as a sign of greatness to come, the Braves continue to not be able to hit young pitchers that they haven't faced much. I don't know what their scouts do, but it hasn't worked in years.

The Padres will probably sweep the series as Werner is making his 2nd start and Stults already beat them earlier this year.

With the loss, the Braves have been shut out 11 times this season. That would be 3rd in the NL, I believe.

Lew Ford hit a home run last night?

When I heard that last night during the MLB wrap up on the overnight show on the FAN I was all "He's still around? WOW!".

                        Pirates release Erik Bedard.

Good move. At least Bedard was healthy this season but he was a major disappointment. Started out well but went downhill later on. At least Correia kept them in the games he pitched. Maybe Bedard and Wolf could be insurance policies for the Yankees?

It's not so much that he's still around as much as he's around again. He spent some time in Japan and Mexico over the past few years I believe.

Well this has been the year of the Great White Whale for the Blue Jays. Bautista has been shut down for the rest of the season and will have surgery on his wrist meanwhile a top prospect in the organization has been suspended for taking a banned substance.

                              Just heard an interesting stat...

Kevin Youkilis has been in a 3-0 count 259 times in his career. He has NEVER swung at the fourth pitch.
