Yeah, I was nitpicking with his BB/SO ratio because there's not much to complain about. That's the only thing I could think that CC Sabathia up here could point out. Plus I wanted to use that to point out Phillips' horrible BB/SO ratio. It's just that he had the same amount of strike outs as walks (49) last year between 'A' and 'AA'. Ideally, with players with low HR totals you want more walks than strike outs, but again that's nitpicking. Also, I'm really not concerned with his lack of power, it'll develop down the road. I think he'll hit .270-.280 this year which would be pretty solid considering he'll hit 7th or 8th in the lineup.

I hear ya. It's not bad thing when all you've got to nitpick about is someone having a 1:1 BB:SO ratio.

It'll be interesting to see how well he does against major league pitching. Given that he does have a good eye at the plate and doesn't strike out alot he'll be less likely to run into any serious issues. I don't doubt that he would be able to hit .270+ this year, but I'm going to hold off until after spring training to give my own projection for him.

The season can't start soon enough...

I think Mauer will do well this year, and every year after. He's unique. You can't look at his age and say "too young to be a regular big-league catcher". That's half-assed. The Twins have a history of nurturing prospects and bringing them along slowly. Mauer wouldn't be the starting catcher if he wasn't ready. Last spring Gardenhire was quoted as saying "we need to send Mauer to minor league camp before he gives me too many reasons to keep him on the team". That's a 19 year old he was talking about!

A lot of people are hoping Mauer flops. It just so happens that most of those people are Indians, Royals and White Sox fans. I guess i'd feel the same way if i were them. Thankfully, i'm not.

I like how you mentioned every team in the Central but the Tigers. I wonder why that is...oh right, they suck. But then again so do the Indians.

You know, i realy beleive the Tigers will be much better this year, but they won't be contenders. I think Clevelan will be tough. They may not be ready to contend yet, but i think they'll be a tough team to beat, and watch out in a year or two.

I was taking a good-hearted shot at the guy with the Sabathia cover. You're right they have a lot of good young players and will be good in a year or two.
