Actually at this point Hitchcock may not even start, remember they also signed Ismael Valdes,
so the rotation right now looks like:

    Brian Lawrence
    Adam Eaton
    Jake Peavy
    David Wells
    Ismael Valdes

with Hitchcock filling in as a spot starter from time to time, but we'll see how it looks come opening day.

This move is akin to the Arizona Cardinals signing Emmitt Smith last year.

Desperate move by a desperate organization.

Dude, Hitchcock is not a spot starter/reliever. That was misuse in New York. He's better suited in the fifth spot than I Smell Valdes. The numbers prove it too. I don't know but I feel Hitchcock will be the better pitcher to win the fifth spot in the rotation.

It's already been said so Wells will be the ace, not Lawrence.

I see Bochy having the rotation like this.

            Wells
            Eaton
            Lawrence
            Peavy
            Hitchcock

            Back-ups:
            Valdes
            Howard
            Jarvis
            Tankersley
            Hamilton

(Hopefully if injuries occur we dont' have to resort to using Jarvis, Tank, and Hamilton).

Hitchcock was not misused with the Yankees. He was a spot starter/long reliever because he isn't very good.

What are you talking about, he even said it that he didn't like how he was a spot starter/long reliever. Excuse me, but when he was made a starter by the Cardinals, he did well.

Hitchcock was a starter when he came up, will always be suited as a starter.
