I would have called that pitch on the outside corner a ball.

Ah, I guess that comes with the umpiring experience then (or batting in general). Because he's technically on the outside corner of the plate, the ball will appear to not hover over the actual plate. You need to practice seeing it enough before you know right where that corner is.

EDIT: In fact, I'm going to be honest... that pitch was mostly on the white, less so on the black. It was a strike and then some. The camera lens might be throwing you off a bit as well.

I would love to see the Pirates make the World Series. Always loved what Huntington was doing. He just gets it.

The Pirates only need to win 1 game to be guaranteed a .500 record, they couldn't even screw that up.

Why is "Restaurant Group Severs ties with Braun" the 2nd headline in the ESPN baseball page? ESPN is so dumb with this stuff....

Great, the Jays are gonna get killed by STL, Cincy and Pittsburgh.

They also start the season in their personal house of horrors. "le sigh"

I don't know what Bobby Valentine's problem is but he needs to STFU and go away.

He made even dumber comments today that aren't in that link, saying the Yankees need to produce photographs of what they did after 9/11. Like, really? 12 years later he wants to get into a pissing match over who did more, Mets or Yankees? If he wasn't somebody who is about "doing the right thing, not taking credit" I would think this is in poor taste.

I know what Bobby V's problem is, the V says it all. Your irrelevant Bobby, your a terrible manager and a moron. Seriously, what a tasteless, moronic comment. You don't like the Yankees fine, but to want to take all the credit for that, just disgusting and arrogant, and how does he know? Did he follow every Yankees player, management etc.. Go back under your bridge you troll.

Three quality vets hanging the cleats up in the last week or so. Kotsay, Helton and Vlad.

Kotsay had some good years with the A's including some playoffs. Vlad always scared the crap out me facing him on the angles. He could hit any pitch location outa the park. Couldn't even pitch around the guy cause he'd still rake it.
