Ya, this is the Vets selections…the BBWA selections aren't until January.

I barely watch Sunday Night Baseball but my goodness, I feel sorry for Dan Shulman. He has to carry two lummoxes in Schilling and Kruk in the same booth for the foreseeable future.

Schilling is replacing Hershiser who's going to work for the new LA Sportsnet Dodgers package.

Only reason why Schilling is even on TV anymore is because he's dirt poor from all his failed investments. I hated his smug face on the Diamondbacks and even more when he went to the Sox. I can't even attempt to watch him. He just drones on and on.

Prior and Wood have both now officially retired.

            What if.

            I'm sad.

Hearing about NBA divisions possibly being done, and also how NHL divisions recently changed(for the worse), what do people think divisions might be like if MLB ever expanded to 32 teams(there's no rumors of it happening, but I think MLB is most likely out of MLB,NHL,NBA to do that in the future)?

Same format as NFL maybe(4 teams per division and 4 division)? Then we have 4 division winners and then 2WC spots(so it's basically same playoff format as NFL)?

I feel like baseball is the least likely to expand but what do I know.
                MLB: Texas Rangers
                Soccer: FC Dallas, Fleetwood Town
                NCAA: SMU, UTA
                NFL: Dallas Cowboys
                NHL: Dallas Stars
                NBA: Dallas Mavericks

Least likely? NHL I would say is least likely. They're barely even able to maintain 30 teams(not cause there isn't a market, but because Bettman is in love with southern USA and doesn't mind Florida,Phoenix and stuff barely having half filled arenas). So teams aren't gonna relocate, but expanding can't happen either.

Seattle is only city I can think of that NBA would have a team in, so don't see expansion happening. Probably just relocating some team.

Disagree. I expect NHL expansion (with fees of 300-400M each) within 5 years at the latest. Expansion fees don't count as HRR, so the 30 current owners are looking at $20-30M directly deposited into their pockets without raising the cap. Unless the Canadian dollar absolutely nosedives, Quebec City is a lock, with Seattle extremely likely as well. Bettman will still be able to use KC and Toronto 2 as relocation threats.

Would've been better if Florida,Phoenix(or just Columbus since Phoenix can't relocate for quite some time) moved to 2 of Seattle,KC,Quebec City.

File this under the "Montreal as possible home for the Rays" narrative running around quietly among MLB people

Boras says Montreal a Good Choice for Rays if they Move

If the Tampa Bay Rays ever get relocated, agent Scott Boras thinks that Montreal would be a fine place for them to land.

Speaking to the Chicago Tribune at baseball's Winter Meetings in Lake Buena Vista, Florida, Boras called the former home of the Expos a "tremendous environment" for baseball.

"I remember in '94, when you go back and look at their attendance rates and the market, the people and the Canadian rivalry, I really thought baseball was in a good place," Boras told the Tribune. "The players enjoyed playing there. It's a beautiful city."

Boras was discussing the Rays as an example of a team that is well run and successful, but still has difficulty drawing fans to the stadium.

"My point was that baseball, collectively, to protect the game, to protect the market, and you have a product that is so successful and the market is not responding to it, what is the reason?

"The reason is not the performance of the franchise or the players," Boras continued. "The reason has to be there's a dynamic operating here that is not consistent with what other markets do in baseball."

Boras, who represents Jacoby Ellsbury, Alex Rodriguez, and J.D. Drew among dozens of others, discussed the importance of support for a team from its local community.

"Clearly if you win and you're successful, your fan base rewards. So my suggestion of New Jersey or Montreal or somewhere ... The idea is for the betterment of the game. I think we have to look at (possibly moving in) markets that aren't rewarding playing the game at a high level."

Boras told the Tribune that New Jersey may be difficult as an option with the Yankees and Mets already in the New York City area.

If Montreal(or any Canadian city) gets a team, it HAS to be in the same league as the Jays. Having just 6 games between them is way too little. It'd be the best way to make the team popular by having them in same discussions as "Canadas Team" all the time since they won't be outcasted since they're in a league with teams not really covered that much in the country.

If Rays relocate though and it's not somewhere like Montreal, would baseball in Carolina work? They have 2 AAA teams already(Durham being the affiliate of the Rays), and I'm sure if they got a promise of a MLB team, they could probably just tear down one of those stadiums that the AAA teams play at and build a MLB sized one.

Panthers are locked into their current arena lease through the 2027/28 NHL season. Owners prefer expansion because it's more money for them.

Let me get this straight..Houston is the top team to now land Choo?? When did this happend. According to a few sites, Houston now has the highest bid for his services. Ive been an Astro fan for 15 years and Oriole fan for 20. It was nice to see houston 10 years ago really making a push in Baseball but I guess every mid market team hits this level. I must say though that adding Choo to an already nice outfield and hoping our #1 picks develop quickly this team may actually contend for playoffs in a year or two

It'll probably be closer to 3-4 years until Houston competes, but they're making the right moves.
