Anybody know why Hot Stove on MLB Network ended today? Just wondering if it was permanent or if will be back on next year prior to spring training.

I think they're replacing it with a morning show about the WBC.

I really dislike how ESPN is only going to show grapefruit league games only. Must be that east coast bias. MLB Network as well they are showing mostly grapefruit games with a few Cactus league games, but I'm quite tired of watching Yankees, Phillies, and Mets games.

This just might be because I'm a Rangers fan, but I don't get the love for the Angels at all. Their rotation is iffy after Weaver and Wilson Hanson's shoulder problems are alarming. Blanton isn't great, but he's not terrible either. Vargas is Vargas. They have, however, solidified their bullpen by adding Burnett and Madson. Their offense will be great, but Trout will probably regress (but will still be among the best players in the league) and Pujols will continue his decline. The Hamilton signing will be great for 2013, but he always has the extended slumps and mysterious injuries. Yeah, the Angels will certainly be better than last year, but I don't see them advancing far into the playoffs without making significant upgrades to their rotation. As of today, I don't think there's a clear favorite in the West, but I'd put the Angels and Rangers as even, with the A's just behind them.

I agree and disagree on certain things with the AL West. I actually think that it's a three team race and my pick to win this division is still the Oakland Athletics. That team is dangerous with Cespedes and has a great pitching staff. The Angels remind me of the 90's Rangers: All bat, no cattle (or nothing in the bullpen at least). The Rangers have problems in the outfield and are going to be looking at a number of guys to find their past selves.

The West is going to be fun again, that's for sure. And with the Astros joining in on things I wouldn't be surprised to see two of the Angels, Athletics, and Rangers in the Wild Card.

I'm thinking when the dust settles out here the Angels nudge out the As by a couple games for the division. I think the Rangers finish 3rd maybe 7-10 games back from the second place team (be it the Anaheim California Angels of Los Angeles that play nowhere near LA or the "we want out of Oakland" As)

Just saw the E-60 special on former Rockies' prospect Ben Petrick. I had no clue he retired due to Parkisons. Pretty amazing story but must admit... Choked me up a bit.

After Jon Daniels' promotion to President of Baseball Ops, there are rumors that Nolan Ryan has been stripped of his baseball related duties and could leave the organization by the end of Spring Training. The owners, however, are denying the rumors. Ryan has gotten some criticism over the last few years for a few things, such as his handling of Chuck Greenberg and Josh Lewin, and also rumors that the signing of Roy Oswalt last year was a "Nolan signing". He was also against the signing of Yu Darvish. I'm happy it was Nolan Ryan leaving instead of Jon Daniels.

The Yankees general manager Brian Cashman confirmed that he asked Derrek Lee to come out of retirement, and then said he would be just as happy to sign Chipper Jones.

Chipper a DH for the ailing Yankees?

Maybe they should get ManRam from Taiwan

lol, Josh Reddick is now a guy who isn't on the Jays that I care about.

He's obsessed with this on twitter and in real life.

Since the NBA version has become so popular(I didn't make it,but seeing it made me wanna make one), thought I'd try one for MLB. It's so good, even Jim Ross(who I dubbed into this video) mentioned it on twitter!

Is there anything worse than having a crappy baseball team?

Crappy football team: whatever, you only have to watch them 16 times.
Crappy hockey team: you have football and then the start of baseball season to distract you
Crappy basketball team: who cares, it's basketball. (I kid, I kid)

But a crappy baseball team? Those dog days of summer when baseball is the only show in town, and they are playing pretty much every night. It just sucks! lol
