Re: Since When Did Everyone Become a Socialist/Communist?

I guess I'm old school but I think having the Yankees as the 'Evil Empire' is healthy for baseball. I actually do not like the way the NFL salary structure is set up.

I never know who the hell is on who's team anymore. Teams go from 4-12 to 14-2 the next year and vice-versa. I like tradition, I like dynasties, I like the rise and fall of teams. Yeah it sucks when you're team sucks from the get go, but I'm a Cubs fan I'm used to it. I don't want every team being the same. In the NFL there isn't even really an upset anymore but in the 80's when you beat the Niners or Redskins it was VERY exciting. It could make your season. Now just close your eyes and pick a team, you'll have just as good chance as any.

I like to root against the Yankees. If all teams were the same then every game and every season would feel the same. This is just good theatre to me.

I agree with you on the NFL but I dont disagree with a salary cap. I think the salary cap is too restrictive because it does not allow teams to keep their players. If it only did not allow one team to have all star backups I could understand that but the NFLs salary cap has reduced the league to mediocrity as you have said.

In baseball, no one is saying the Yankees being good is bad for baseball. Rather, the current structure does not force the league to be comepetitive. As it is now I think the salary cap should be at 150 million. Thats 20 million more than the team with the second largest payroll. There should also be a floor and I think it should probably be 20 million over what the second lowest teams payroll is.

Not to be off topic, but Lex just stole the words out of my head what I think about the NFL Salary cap and what needs to be done with it.

Why am i not suprised that a Yankees fan would agree with the current system. Meanwhile, Fans in 20 other cities have no hope for the season before it even begins. Yeah, thats great for baseball. While fans in NEw York and Boston get their own personal all star teams, Fans in Pittsburgh like myself are forced to watch a team of minor leaguers struggle to not lose 100 games. Yeah thats great for baseball.Im as american as apple pie, but when it comes to sports, there is a reason the NFL is #1 and its the salary Cap. Call it socialism or communism, I call it a league that is fun to watch for all the fans in the league, not just the 6- 10 teams that have all the money to spend.
