Re: MVP
One plays half his games in the best hitters park in the league while playing a mediocre-to-poor defensive corner outfield with no added value on the bases, the other is an excellent defensive centerfielder without the aid of a hitter's paradise with tons of baserunning value as icing.
Cuddles isn't getting overlooked, he doesn't belong in the conversation.Comment

Re: MVP
WAR is a good stat now to be honest. And yes, Trout deserved the AL MVP award last year as much as Cabrera deserved it. What amazes me is Trout actually has a -0.8 Defensive WAR this year. Defensive WAR is a little harder to judge, as evidenced by Simmons 5.4 Defensive WAR which puts him #8 for WAR of position players. Basically, WAR is saying he's the best defensive player by far in baseball but his hitting is average at best.
I gotta give the MVP to McCutcheon in the NL this year, and in the AL Cabrera. McCutcheon for being the catalyst to turn that team around and Cabrera for being a God as the plate.
I wonder where Jose Fernandez will finish in the CY voting though to be honest. Kershaw will win definitely, just curious how many votes will go Fernandez's way for 2nd, 3rd, etc.7 National Championships

Re: 2013 Regular Season Awards
And "it'll go to Trout because the people that vote treat it as best player instead of most valuable" implies that a) there is a difference between being the best player in the sport and being the most valuable and b) Cabrera was more valuable than Trout, which he most certainly was not.I write things on the Internet.

Next point, ballparks:
Cuddyer and McCutchen have very similar numbers in the way of HRs and RBIs (20/84 for Cuddy and 21/84 for McCutcheon)... now, your Coors Field argument might rear it's ugly head... until you take a look at road numbers. Nearly identical:
Cuddyer: .311 AVG, .367 OBP, .485 SLG, 9 HR, 39 RBI
McCutchen: .298 AVG, .381 OBP, .478 SLG, 12 HR, 38 RBI
Now, to be fair, when looking at OPS+ (which is adjusted by ballpark), McCutchen has a 158-137 advantage. Which is pretty significant. But with numbers that similar on the road, and numbers slightly favoring Cuddy at home, I think the argument could be made that Cuddyer would have faired just as well as McCutchen in Pittsburgh. You can't fault a guy for what park he plays in.
Now, all that having been said, if I had a vote I would go:
1. McCutchen
2. Carpenter
3. Cuddyer or Goldschmidt; leaning toward Goldschmidt
So, Cuddy wouldn't probably even be in my top three, but in my mind he's definitely there.MLB: Minnesota Twins
NFL: Philadelphia Eagles
NBA: Chicago Bulls, Minnesota Timberwolves
European Football: Manchester United, Brighton & Hove Albion
NCAA: UNI Panthers, Iowa Hawkeyes
