I kind of assumed they would. Maybe this interferes with the batter or something but if it increases the likelihood of making an out then you never know.

Luckily there was no shift ban in 2015, it would have eliminated one of my all time favorite plays

The automatic walk has taken away many of my favorite moments.

        As well as the DH.

Ha, literally dreamed last night that Judge hit 3 HR's in a game and I caught one of them and had the chance to catch a second one, it hit me on the hand, but I couldn't secure it. No biggie right? Then I proceed to immediately drop the ball I did caught down a sewer. I guess it was mostly a nightmare

Those silly sewers in ballparks below the bleachers!

Now it wasn't Judge, but i went to the Yanks-Athletics game last Saturday, and Stephen Vogt's pinch-hit game-tying two-run homer hit off the red State Farm sign about 6-8 feet below my reach. If you watch the highlight and see the arm that sticks out trying to catch it, that is me (black jacket, blue jeans, and a B&W hat on that has my softball team's logo on it).

It's probably all a blur in official footage, but I kept thinking it could've either gone stupidly awesome to snag that liner with one hand and make highlight reels (at least slow-motion replays with commentary) or terribly wrong where they stay fixated on me if I didn't catch it either. Now again, catching that would've been tough... but it was worth the try!

Judge, along the rest of the Yankees, had a poor offensive outing. They had two hits in eleven innings. I think he struck out two or three times that night.

Actually, I was outside the stadium, Judge was hitting them out there. Not even in my dreams I can afford Yankees tickets

The pickoff attempt limit rule is out of nowhere, I don't recall that discussed.

Is that to encourage more steals or prevent pitchers from stalling?

The problem is stuff like this should be happening more. Teams could take more advantage of shifts, but they want to stick with their own strategy and habits. It's like a gentleman's agreement or something.

Jays almost played in Pittsburgh in 2020, but the 2022 Jays want to be the Toronto Pirates apparently.

Chapman started a gesture where guys cover their eye, like a pirate patch.

They're pretending to be pirates on a voyage (destination being the WS), and play pirate music after wins with their own pirate flags in the clubhouse.

You can't make this stuff up, that's what they said.

                        lol
yeah, I can see the logic:
we all think of Pirates when we think of the world series.
maybe next year the Jays can dress up in sailor uni's and pretend they're Mariners

next thing you know the Guardians will be doing the tomahawk chop imagining they're Braves

I'm fine with the rest of the rule changes, but count me against the shift ban. It's not that I love the shift or anything, but to me it just seems to cross some imaginary line I made up in my head to say you can't position your fielders any way you want to.

It's like, this is 'murica, darn it! I'll put my fielders where I (darn) well please!

NBA has illegal defense, also the circle underneath the basket so I'm ok with the shift ban.

I think its dumb as well.

Nothing to stop the SS or 2B from crossing over the base after the pitcher is into his windup. Or bolting onto the grass.

They can still get creative with the OF, if they dare.

I don't think we've seen the end of this yet.
