Some of the guys that haven't gotten 100% because of writer grudges is just ridiculous, IMO. If you look at the list of 95% plus guys, it's pretty egregious. Maybe set the bar higher at 98%, but when you're that far out of lockstep with the rest of the writers, it goes beyond different mindsets and morphs into personal grudges.

That's why I said really high % and 1st year on ballot.

So...which one of you have been talking to Manfred?

Starting extra innings with a runner on second base, the rule adopted by Major League Baseball as a way to shorten games during the pandemic, might be sticking around.

“Both fans and players like it. The clubs like it. Seems like it has legs to me,”
Or by both fans does he actually mean both, as in 2?

Of course players like it. If they decided to shorten games to 7 innings I'm sure players would like that too. Less work same money.

Whether fans like it or not, I'd be interested in the actual data on that. Of course Manfred likes it because it artificially lowers the average game time, and that's his be all end all.

He hasn’t talked to me but if both means 2 then I’ll be the 3rd

I actually like the rule in the regular season

Yeah I’m the same way, kinda indifferent to the double header rule as well. I’m gonna see 1000 innings of Yankee baseball a year, I’m not going to miss 2 innings here or there or a game not going 16 innings.

I still wonder about who that runner on 2nd rule favours more.

The road team gets first crack at a high percentage scoring chance, which couod mean that the home team has a higher chance of having to hit from behind (even when they're also given that same high percentage scoring chance), but at the same time, the home team also now knows if the road team doesn't score, they could play small ball a bit just to move the runner around the bases.

Did you read that report you posted?

Home teams went 113-103 in extra-inning games this year and are 262-263 in extras since the runner on second rule started in 2020, according to the Elias Sports Bureau. Home teams were 312-294 in extra-inning games from 2017-19, Elias said.

It favors the team with the pitcher that is more likely to generate strikeouts and force you to get a hit to score the free runner. It’s why I’d like to see teams scrap the tie game at home use your closer in the 9th way of thinking if you have a high k/9 closer and save him for the tenth

Vlad wins gold glove for 1B!

That's one award his dad never won.

Even more impressive considering that he's dealt with Bo Bichette throws all season long.

I guess he ended up on highlight reels a lot for making great saves at 1B on throws that would've ended up in the dugout.

It really is amazing how bad he was at catching and judging the ball off the bat compared to how good his arm was. Once he finally corralled it, you definitely better not try to advance, but his fielding was pretty bad.

Here's a guy that had 29.8WAR going into his Age 26 season and now at age 32 only has 38.7. He actually has a 1 WAR lead on Acuna going into age 25 season.

I'm assuming someone is going to take a 1 year flier on him outside of Wrigley to see if he still has it. Unfortunately for him, last year was his first negative dWAR year of his career.

Definitely was such a promising career that just kind of died off after he got paid.
