    Nice guy, in my book.

My wife and I met Pete a couple years ago in the Reds store just outside GABP the day before opening day. He had his wife and another girl with him at the time, and I said hi Mr Rose and he shook my and my wifes hand. He was very nice and humble when we met him, he was checking out my wife, but I was checking his wifes rack out as she had quite a bit of cleavage showing, so I guess were even, lol.

I hope Pete continues to work for Fox, he might not be allowed back in baseball or the HOF, but very few have the knowledge that man has on the game, and atleast working for Fox he gets to talk about the game he knows better than most anyone in the history of the game.

I do feel for Mr Manfred, as that was a tough decision and Im sure anytime he is around Cincy he will probably get booed sadly, but the man had to do whats best for the game, and if he had any doubt whatsoever that Pete could repeat past mistakes he had to keep the banned on, and I hope Rose fans understand that. Atleast Mr Manfred went into it with a open mind and dealt with it like a man, and as much as Im a fan of Pete Rose the right decision was made, as Pete hasnt seriously ever dealt with his gambling issue. You would think that Pete would have been adamant about getting help, even if he couldnt quit gambling all together.

I do believe everyone deserves a 2nd chance, and imo Pete was given a 2nd chance and if he had seeked more help on his addiction I do believe Mr Manfrd would have reinstated him, but Pete didnt, and he even lied at first to Manfred about not betting on baseball, before admitting he still bet on baseball.

Anyone catch the Rose press conference? It was ... okay. He admits to still betting on sports, but it's more of a recreational thing now. And the fact that he's doing good financially seems to jive with that. Plus he's Vegas, so it's not illegal. But I'm pretty sure most people heard him admit to that and cringed a little.

Jon Heyman did a radio hit here yesterday and it's basically "Rose may have mended things a little but he's still the same guy he was 30 years ago. He's not going to change and he still bets on baseball".

I want him in the HOF so this discussion that pops up every 3 months around the baseball world dies.

I had no idea that his banning from baseball had nothing to do with the hall of fame. Makes sense but never seemed to me that it would be separate banning.

Same. Just don't get why multiple times a year every year this becomes a major story. At some point you would think people would move on.

                  So...just clicking around baseball ref...

                  Came across this line:

                  Frank Thomas
                  106 Runs
                  38 HR
                  101 RBI
                  109 BB
                  .487 OBP
                  .729 Slugging
                  212 OPS+

I was just looking at his stat lines, and 1994 looked like most years, so it didn't stand out...until i noticed those numbers were generated in only 517 plate appearances/399ABs. Dude was on a tear!

Projects out to about 50HRs, give or take...not the "greatest year EVAH" or anything like that, but goodness, he was raking.

The Big Hurt was an amazing hitter.

I've never seen anyone hit so many line drive home runs.

If you had a make/break game with a guy on 2B and 2-outs, who would you rather have at the plate:

                      Frank Thomas
                      Edgar Martinez

I watched more of Edgar because his Mariners were a natural foe of the Yankees. So I say him only because I can't not picture him getting that hit.

He'll get the biggest contract ever, but I doubt it will even cross $400 million.

(I'm assuming a 10 year contract... an 11 year contract meanwhile would probably breach that threshold)
