Rays lease expires after the 2027 season.

So do we see As move after 2024, then Rays move after 2027?

Don't think MLB will move Rays the same season as As/force them out before the lease is done? Or if the Rays move to Montreal for instance, what if we see their split season idea happen in 2027 before the full move in 2028?

Agree to a deal in 2025, Montreal then has 3 years to build a new ballpark, and we see Olympic Stadium/Tropicana share the Rays in 2027 before moving into the new park for 2028.

If they're gonna go by the A's timeline, they got another 30 years at The Trop.

But then, does their AAA team become their affiliate too? Staying in the same city?
Maybe do a switcheroo. Move the AAA team to Oakland but that's unlikely too many burned bridges there now. Maybe it ends up in a similar situation to the Twins and the St Paul Saints.

Just replace "Oakland" with "Vegas" and that's the new uni done and dusted.

Hopefully it doesn't look like that. Because that's ugly as hell.

Obviously you're never gonna say you want to go somewhere else, but seems like the Guerrero family really doesn't like the Yankees.

I wonder if it has to do with the fact that his dad faced the Yankees in the playoffs 3 different times (including the LCS in 2009 and 2010), so there's bad blood between NY and their family?

More like around 2003-2004 period of Vladdy almost being a Yankee.

Steinbrenner wanted Sheffield, Cashman wanted Vladdy. Sheffield had his offer, but was looking around the market, Cashman made the same offer to Vladdy, and he was going to accept. Stein jumped in and said, He wanted Sheffield, talked to Gary personally to finalize the deal, and the rest is history.

And 2012. He wanted like $5-8 million at the end but nobody signed him. Yankees went with Ibanez for $1 million instead.

Which in hindsight could've changed so much.

The only team who signed him in 2012, the Blue Jays. Even if it was just a minor league deal for 1 month, that was the last team to give him a shot (which was surprising because he hit .290 with a .733OPS in 2011, so he still could've had a role on a team even just as a DH)

And just 3 years later, the team to sign Vladdy Jr...the Jays. I'm sure 2012 had a small part to do with that decision (also an interesting side note how before the Jays went all in at that 2015 deadline, the big move made weeks before that was signing Vladdy, as that 15-16 playoff run would eventually lead right into the Vladdy era).

Still worked out for him because he still made the hall. But I think he still wanted to keep playing so he could reach 500 HRs. I also think he needed the money.

I saw the tweets after you posted, and didn't have an opinion. If that was him coming clean while drunk, then I'd like those Stros to be chewed out more about it still.

The Braves said they can longer sport an oversized cap to celebrate home runs after complaints from New Era, the league's official hat manufacturer.
