I'd like to see something similar to what tennis has where it can determine if the ball is in or out of the strike zone but as someone said pigs will fly before we see any tech used in regards to the strike zone.

Yea that was me. I don't understand why people want something like this. IMO every sport needs some semblance human error.Comment

Yeah, I've heard Andy McPhail is going to be the new prez there. I expect the entire organization to get a house cleaning. Sandberg was put in a tough situation with a club that should've started the rebuild at least 2 years ago.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Yup. McPhail looks like the guy. That is what this organization has needed for a long time. Someone to come in who has no ties or loyalty to the Phillies and will just clean up.Comment

I think Chicago is quite pleased now how things turned out.
I'm certain they prefer Maddon > Sandberg as far as a manger goes.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

I wouldn't word it the way he did but overall I agree with the point.
I don't think human error is needed or wanted, the goal is 100% accuracy but I'm okay with the opportunity cost of the human element of umpires.Comment

Speedy's immediate actions upon reading this post:
SpoilerThis is in 3rd person in honor of "Jimmy" @ Seinfeld
- Speedy looks again at the gifs just posted about Eric Gregg and his horrible zone against ATL in the 1997 NLCS
- ...Speedy scratches his head in thought
- Speedy thinks about Jim Joyce and Galarraga's perfect game
- ...Speedy scratches his head in thought
- Speedy thinks: "Kehlis cannot be that ignorant"
I get your sentiment but...I'd prefer the game be decided by the players and not by incorrect calls that are out of the players' control.
Spoiler@ Kehlis -- Not calling you out at all as I know where you're coming from...simply having fun.
I used to have the same view and did NOT want replay but now that we're in 1.5 seasons of it, I like the thought of having the gameplay decide the outcome and not errors (though, I do wish an error that happens at my job would one day come out favorably for me!)Last edited by Speedy; 06-26-2015, 06:43 PM.Originally posted by Gibson88Anyone who asked for an ETA is not being Master of their Domain.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I met Byrnes once too.
I was walking to a bar with some friends one evening in Los Gatos (a small San Jose border town) and I couple guys fall in behind us and I glance back and recognized him. This was one off season while he was still playing for the A's so of course I introduced myself and shook his hand.
He asked if I knew where a certain bar was at and it happened to be the one we were heading to so I told him to just follow us. Then he asked "Is that were all the bitches are at?"
Yup.
I'll leave the story right there.Oakland Athletics San Jose Sharks
