Re: MLB Off-Topic
Just a mini thing, but anyone else liking the challenges in MLB now? To me,it makes part of game more enjoyable now, cause now if a close play happens at 1st, or you think a guy was tagged out but he wasn't or anything like that, if the coach doesn't challenge, then you realize maybe you were wrong after all, so you're not upset at a certain play or anything.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
That actually isn't my complaint and I think they've done pretty well with the speed of it.
They still get calls wrong too often and like football, the call on the field takes too much precedence. I've seen so many poor calls not changed this year based on the call on the field to last me a lifetime.
That on top of the fact that I hate the idea of replay in baseball but that's more of a principle argument than anything.
I've actually been very pleased with the speed of the replay's though.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
The average delay for a reviewed call is...2 minutes? A little more than that?
I don't mind a short delay to get a call right. Even if they don't always get the calls right after the review, there's now less error in the game. It's a worthwhile trade-off IMO.I write things on the Internet.

I also think that we need to have some kind of explanation of why a call was overturned/sustained because there have been times where you're left wondering why exactly they made so and so a call. Just give the crew chief a mic and give a brief explanation.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Though giving an ump a live mic to address the crowd, that's a good idea.............Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Giving the ump a mic is unnecessary and would just add time.
After seeing the replay as many times as we do it's pretty clear that the result is either confirmed, overturned or not enough evidence to overturn.
Don't really need to waste time listening the ump telling me what I already know.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I love replays. It's one of the best things to ever happen to baseball. It's infuriating that it even took this long to implement it.
And everything should be reviewable. Everything.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I love the idea of replays, the execution has been bad imo. Between them taking too long for obvious calls and then getting calls wrong there's no excuse for it.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I like the idea of replay, but good grief, it's 2015...do it right. Get rid of the going over and huddling with big bulky head sets on. Have a 5th umpire at the park in the booth with access to the replays. Give the crew chief on the field a wireless mic to communicate with the booth ump and get rid of challenges. If a play on the field is wrong, the ump in the booth immediately calls down and corrects it...play continues.
The challenges, the managers stalling while someone gives them a thumbs up or down to review it, the umps huddling as New York makes a decision, etc, is just asinine IMO."People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. Re: MLB Off-Topic
Was anyone watching MLB Tonight last night when Byrnes, Reynolds, Verducci and somebody else were playing some little floaty version of Wiffle ball? I didn't hear what the name of the game was called, but if anyone knows what I'm talking about or what it is I'd really appreciate it. Looked like fun. Thanks!
As far as replays, I think two things need to come into play here: the dugout cannot make a phone call, and the penalty for being wrong must be "no mound conferences for the team's next three defensive outs."Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment
