Ok...here's a dumb question. Are the expanded rosters in place for the WC game or not? I would think not.

If there's a "Game 163", yes, because that is considered a regular season game. Wild Card game, no, because that is considered a playoff game.

No they are not. That's when the roster cuts back down again.

On topic of stupid questions.....Some question I've been wondering for awhile:

Lets say there's 2 strikes on a batter, a pitcher throws a ball in the dirt,or just a flat out wild pitch and it goes real far away from the catcher. Can the batter swing immediately AFTER seeing where the ball is going? In other words, he'd swing, and since the ball has already passed the catcher, he could run to first? Or does the "dropped 3rd strike" rule only apply to swinging at a pitch before it crosses the plate?

They're not but it can be manipulated a bit as teams are allowed to reset their 25 man roster again after the WC game.

So in theory, they can leave guys off the 25 man roster for the WC game but it uses an option (I believe), and then brought back up.

                Solid hire.

I'm loving how most of the GM vacancies are being filled up. It makes it less likely for Anthopoulos to be hired away.

Royals lineup, 1-6, all with >.800 OPS.

I haven't checked many other lineups, but I'm betting that isn't too common.

Edit: after a brief perusal, the only team to come close is Toronto...they might argue that having their 2-4 hitters above .900 is just as good (at least).

Either way, remarkable feat , thus far, from both clubs.

Jays hitting approach this year overall has been real smart. Guys working counts so much more, guys buying into the approach, and it's paid off. Same goes for baserunning too.

Jays have only 12 intentional walks this year(MLB average is 31),but despite that, got highest OBP in the league. Also got 4th highest batting average, and highest slugging % and OPS. Despite being known for power, they're 4th in AL in stolen bases, and 1st in MLB in stolen bases %.

Really is a well rounded offense. Power, contact, discipline, and smart baserunning.

Any other ALCS series other than Jays-Royals will be disappointing to see. Really have been two best teams in the AL this year.

I think the Dipoto hire is a good one for Seattle and I'm looking forward to seeing what he can do with a proper "chain-of-command" in place there. That he'll be competing with the Angels has to geek him up a bit as well, but it'll probably be best if doesn't really pay attention to that storyline.

Was reading an article on Yogi Berra's funeral and by god he played on 10 (TEN!) World Series winning teams?!?! Are you serious? That's a tremendous amount even for Yankee royalty. Amazing. Massive. I have no words.

You didn't realize that? In 19 seasons he played in FOURTEEN World Series, winning 10. He finished in the TOP 4 of the MVP voting SEVEN straight years...winning it 3 times. Guy was a stud.

But seriously, those are some crazy numbers. I forgot that he bridged the DiMaggio years to the Mantle years. I remember him more in the Mantle era. We'll never see any dominance anywhere close to those Yankee teams ever again.

Didn't use google...years of playing table top baseball/reading baseball history. This Yankee teams were great, but they played in an extremely weak AL that actually had teams that acted as a AAAA club for the Yankees (see Kansas City A's of the 1950s). Baseball is too different/big for that to happen these days.
