Considering they are going to suck next year as well, makes no sense to fire him.

Barring the Mets making the World Series, every year since 1903 a team that was active in 1903 has made the World Series.

The Pirates, Cubs, Dodgers, and Cardinals were all around in 1903.

Cool but deceiving stat. Those were the only teams until 1961/62 and full blown expansion isn't even 50 years old yet, so the years from 1903 to the 1960s of course those teams are going to be in it. Still pretty cool.

Ha. How about at least one team that was active in 1960 has been in the World Series every year since.

            Still crazy.

The Cubs may not win the World Series this year, like every other year. But, this '15 team can be comfortably crowned champions of role play.

Something that was brought up yesterday on a tv show in Toronto when they were interviewing the mayor. He mentioned that he was trying to get the Jays game broadcasted in downtown Toronto(in similar fashion as the Leafs/Raptors games that people remember during their playoff appearances).

The problem faced was apparently some legal issues with MLB.

Is that normal for MLB, blocking cities from hosting these kinds of viewing parties? Cause NHL/NBA did it with no problems at all, but MLB has issues with it. Or does it have something to do with the fact that they're not holding it at the stadium location itself?

Cause it's the mayor himself who has people trying to do this, so it's not like some random person is trying to start up some outdoor viewing party and make a profit on it. And the team who owns the Jays, owns the network the game is being shown on too,so not like they have a problem with it either.

Hm, I didn't realize it was an issue for MLB. It would be nice to have a viewing party at Leafs/Raptors square but maybe MLB would like it more closer to the actual stadium though that's REALLY close. I mean, I can't really see any other location big enough for all the people that would likely be there.

It starts around 5:20 in that video where the mayor explains it. He said it has to do with broadcasting rights(from MLB).

If I were Jays, since they're owned by Rogers, I'd get a big projection screen or something outside of Rogers Centre near the Gate 10 side of it.

You could fit thousands of people there, and it won't be blocking anyone since all the ground around there is for the Rogers Centre. Unlike the Leafs/Raptors stuff where they had to block off a street for it.

I don't think your mayor is being honest.

San Francisco hosted a wild card viewing party last year inside their park and the Cubs are doing the same this year.

At the stadium is one thing. Which is why I'm thinking maybe MLB regulations prevent hosting some sort of large public viewing party outside like we saw for the Raptors, or it at least has to be OKed by the MLB first.

Don't see why they'd lie about that, not like it's something never before seen from the city or anything like that. The live shots outside the ACC for Raptors/Leafs playoff games are one of the things people remember most about either teams (short) time in the playoffs.

They got a few more days to get it, if they are telling the truth, then this should be wrapped up quickly I hope. He said it has nothing to do with the broadcasters, so it has to be entirely on MLB.

I don't think he's lying, I watched the video and heard what he said. I'm sure there is something holding them up.

I said I don't think he's being honest, meaning to me it's clearly not an MLB issue since it's been done before.

The 2 examples you mentioned were both in stadium stuff. The plan for the Jays is to have something away from Rogers Centre(closest location is the ACC,which is about a 5-10 min walk from Rogers Centre). The main location they want to have it is at Nathan Phillips Square(around 1 mile from Rogers Centre). There is an issue holding it up, but aside from MLB themselves, what other reasons could there even be?

(this is nathan phillips square if anyone wants to have an idea of what the area looks like)
