    Re: MLB Off-Topic

I don't watch too many NL games, but I always did like the double switch strategy in the NL. I like DH hitting over the pitcher, but I liked the strategy that came with having P spot come up to bat from 6th inning onwards.

One thing about DH spot I don't like is how you can't use them as defensive replacements without forfeiting the spot.

Too bad there's no compromise scenario where we could have DH still in the game, but the type of strategy we had with double-switch.

I can't wait for the designated runner....who wants to see slow guys!?
That will definitely extend some careers.......
and a fourth outfielder ala softball is on the horizon!
Some of these guys suck at fielding...but boy can they hit.

Yup...which is what I mentioned earlier about specialization. It's a slippery slope. We already are trending towards more and more specialization (starters going 5 innings, a relief pitcher for the 6th, 7th, 8th, and 9th, etc) and while it might be better strategy, I don't know that it makes for more entertaining baseball in the long run. That's why I've always been a proponent of 9 players in the field and each one hits.

I love the current setup of having the DH in one league and not in the other.

I go by the nickname of crazy at times though.

My company is installing a new tool/program at work so there's a guy from Poland here to help us integrate it and do the training.

Guy is a huge Blue Jays fan which just shocked me to no end.

I find and have a relationship (work, friend, etc) with an uncommon amount of Buffalo Bills fans being in the DE/PA area. Makes no sense but I love it. There is an Official Bills Backers location about half an hour from here.

My father-in-law was born in Cincinnati but other then that I've never come across any random Reds fans.

I still shake my head knowing that Lofton got kicked out of the HOF ballot after only one year. Maybe he doesn't have all the stats but man, he really warranted a little more study.

Loved watching him play in his prime.

He did? That's even more ridiculous than Jim Edmonds.

Lofton won't be remembered as a Giant, but he did hit the pennant-clinching single in 2002, and I'll always remember that.

.299/.372 hitter, 622 SB, 2,400+ hits in 17 seasons. Probably not HoF, but not bad for a guy who didn't play his first full season until age 25. Shouldn't have been kicked off the ballot that early, but it happens unfortunately.

Count me in as staunchly anti-DH. Which is probably no surprise.
