To be fair, the OP did mention something about "even if 60% make it" that would be great. Much as I hate to defend a Cardinals fan, he did acknowledge that less than 100% of the Cubs prospects will pan out--not that it really needs saying since it's fairly obvious.

Well, Joe Buck is an idiot, as you said. That system is already ready to start graduating future stars. The guys they keep getting that make their system so highly rated aren't going to stay in the minors forever. Guys like Rizzo, Castro, Bryant, Russel, Baez, etc. are guys you can build around (That doesn't even mention *potentially* elite talents like Alcantara, Almora, Schwarber, Soler, McKinney). There is no more "next year" once they have those guys up (actually starting "next year").

And nobody is "content" with having the best minor league system. We appreciate that it means likely good to great production at an extremely reduced cost, which will allow the Cubs to spend their money filling the gaps, making them even more dangerous.

The Cubs are in a great position at this point, especially with the emergence of Jake Arrieta. With a loaded system, very little money on the books, and new revenue streams from the renovations and TV deal coming soon, it's an exciting time to be a Cubs fan.

There will be multiple failures from this loaded farm, but they have so many good players that it might not matter. Plus, the Cubs have a high concentration of their guys at the top-end of the prospect lists. Those guys usually have a much higher success rate.

The only thing I hope for now since Oakland made their big move is if the Jays can somehow grab Zobrist and Price without totally killing themselves long term.

Jays aren't getting Price. You'll need someone to replace EE's power now that he's probably out.

              Yeah....I just saw.

Welp, this season is going down in flames.

That's one of the reasons Beane wasn't hesitant to pull the trigger. Theo said as much in an interview as well. Beane knew what he wanted and wasn't scared to spend top prospects to go get it.

I'm just kidding lol but I'm a lot higher on Norris than most, although I'd do Sanchez for any of your MIF guys

Rays may be open to dealing David Price within the division but at a premium price.

The consensus around baseball this season has been that the Rays are extremely reluctant to trade ace David Price within …

The Cardinals were at one point in preliminary talks with the Rays about David Price. With Jaime Garcia having nerve issues again that could require surgery, I wonder if they get they now get into a more serious discussion???

I get the Argument.. But you don't keep guys or say sign Veterans until you think your plan is close. I think Theo alluded to that a little when he said this should be the last year where they are obvious sellers. I think that's telling a little bit.

No chance in the world. I don't think the Cardinals are willing to do Oscar for him let alone Wacha too. IMO Wacha is completely untouchable. The guy is 22, has postseason experience and is showing that he can be a solid #2 behind Wainwright. A guy like that and the #2 prospect in baseball for Price is outrageous.

I don't know what the Rays are asking for, but if there is any way the Cards could get Price without giving up Taveras, I think they'd have to do it.
