    Re: MLB Off-Topic

Those PECOTA projections are stupid. I mean last year alone, of the 5 AL playoff teams, 0 of them were projected to make playoffs in those rankings. The best had 82 wins lol.

Similarly with NL, of the 5 who did make playoffs, only 2 were projected to make it. The 3 who weren't projected, finished at best 82 wins.

            Just preemptive for this season.

If you guys want good projections wait for FanGraphs depth charts to come out.

This in: attendance continues to decline in Yankee Stadium.

I know its being done to counter stubhub and stuff, but i hope others don't follow suit. I do hope one day that scalpers business gets ruined, but don't ruin it for those who can't make a game and wanna sell tickets.

Main reason for me printing out tickets is that sometimes it costs money to have tickets mailed. So might as well print for free.

The meat of the point here:

The Yankees would have you believe that eliminating print-at-home tickets is entirely motivated by a desire to prevent fraud, but the reality is that it has everything to do with the team’s partnership with Ticketmaster and ongoing war against StubHub.

When ticket resellers use StubHub, they can sell the ticket for as little as they’d like, but Ticketmaster sets artificial price floors that prevent sellers from listing tickets below face value. This practice has recently been called out by the New York Attorney General, as it deprives fans the opportunity to buy tickets on a fair market.

So regarding that Yankees' tickets thing here is COO Lonn Trost:

“The problem below market at a certain point is that if you buy a ticket in a very premium location and pay a substantial amount of money. It’s not that we don’t want that fan to sell it, but that fan is sitting there having paid a substantial amount of money for a ticket and [another] fan picks it up for a buck-and-a-half and sits there, and it’s frustrating to the purchaser of the full amount.”

Trost then added a comment that raised eyebrows on social media because of its seemingly elitist undertones. “And quite frankly,” he said, “the fan may be someone who has never sat in a premium location. So that’s a frustration to our existing fan base.”

Lol, so basically a rule on where you can and can't sit based on your class standing. Do they want premium seats only having suits who don't cheer for team, show up late, and leave early?

                              The hell?

Yankee upper management further proves they are out of touch with their community. They botched the destruction and rebuilding of the park and playing fields kids used prior to the new stadium going up (admittedly the final product is beautiful) and dragged their feet in the process and now they're openly suggesting that the fans in the surrounding area shouldn't be sitting in premium seats?

They chose to stay in The Bronx.
