    Re: MLB Off-Topic

Back to how you became a fan of your team. I always played baseball as a kid but couldn't be bothered to watch it on TV other than the WS (we got Tigers and Brewers games where I'm from). I moved to Minnesota for school and still didn't really care about the Twins despite my roommates' best efforts. But then about 12 years ago I graduated, got a real job, and found that I couldn't do fun things at all times during the week anymore. So I started watching baseball on TV after work, and a Twins fan was born. Funny thing is the 1991 WS is actually the first full series that really sticks in my mind as a baseball memory.

I will say that I've always enjoyed actually going to games. It was always a treat to go to a game with my dad when we took a trip. Before actually being a diehard fan of a team, I was lucky enough to go to games in Milwaukee, Minneapolis, Detroit, and Oakland.

I remember my father had a conversation with me, he said "Become a Mets fan or get the **** out of this house." So 4 year old me became a Mets fan.

I love when fathers instill failure in their children from day one.

The new Cubs clubhouse looks fantastic. Players got their first look at it last night.

          Hopefully this Twitter link works..

                        Ditto.
I love his exuberance for the game. I think he 'gets it' more than most athletes.
It's a game. He's making millions and is famous for hitting a rock with a stick. We're not talking about solving world hunger here.

I can appreciate the quiet resolve of players like Trout and Stanton as well (two more of my favs), but Harper's 'attitude' doesn't bother me in the least.

Why in sam hill would Nyjer be going after a 6'8" guy? Either way, not only did Nyjer get closeline but he got buried under a dog pile.

While watching the Jays game Dan Shulman was talking about the new slide rule and such and brought up an incident where Hal McRae totally destroyed Willie Randolph at 2B.

According to Jeff Goldberg of ABC7 in Washington, D.C., Braves outfielder Hector Olivera was arrested Wednesday following a dispute with a woman at the Ritz Carlton Hotel in Arlington, Virginia.

Police sources tell Goldberg that the female victim called 911 from the Ritz Carlton in Pentagon City at 6:51 a.m. Wednesday morning, saying she had been assaulted. Those same sources say the victim had visible bruises and was transported to Virginia Hospital Center. Olivera and the Braves are supposed to play the third game of a four-game set on Wednesday night at Nationals Park.
