    Re: MLB Off-Topic

Can someone give me the cliffs' notes from the first 6 weeks of the year? I've kind of been out of it. I'm starting to get that itch back to watch it in spite of my team being absolutely horrendous.

I am dimly aware that the Twins and Braves are awful, Harper and Arrieta and Kershaw have been awesome, and there was a big fight in Arlington this weekend. Other than that, totally out of it.

      Okay well..

      - Chicago is good (like both teams, shocker right?)
      - The Phillies who are terrible aren't playing terrible thanks to some dominant pitching from the youngins
      - Noah Syndergaard throws very hard
      - Bartolo Colon hit a home run and it was awesome
      - Noah Syndergaard also hits home runs
      - Pitching is a whole thing this year.. guys who are usually very good have unusually high ERAs (see David Price), while Drew freakin' Pomeranz is like a top 10-15 pitcher in baseball.
      - Trevor Story hit like a million home runs the first week of the season

Phillies have a negative run differential though.

And yeah somehow Vincent Velasquez, Rich Hill and Drew Pomeranz are all elite af. It's weird.

Add JBJ to that list as well. Dude is producing like Trout, Donaldson, Machado. And his wRC+ is better than the following players: Trout, Harper, Rizzo, Bryant, Braun, etc. The only players ahead of him are Altuve, Ortiz, Daniel Murphy, Machado, Aledmys Diaz, Cespedes, Shaw, and Hosmer.

              - Seemingly everyone on the Red Sox is hitting well.
              - Most of the best teams in baseball are in the NL.
              - Daniel Murphy's 2015 postseason breakout was legit and he's now one of the best hitters in the game.

Mets pitcher Bartolo Colon reportedly has been sued by a woman who is seeking child support, alleging he fathered two children with her.

Erick Aybar has entered the contest for strangest injury of the season.

He was scratched from the lineup tonight because he got a chicken bone stuck in his throat and had to go to the doctor to have it removed. Sounds like he's fine though, so that's good.

I've kind of known this was going to happen for a while (I have a good friend who is friends with Mayor Williams). The City paid off the bonds on JerryWorld so fast that they has the money to go hard after the Rangers before Dallas had a chance. The team and city looked at retrofitting a retractable roof at the Ballpark, but the cost would be the same as a brand new park. The new stadium should be right next to the Texas Live! development.

I kind of hate it in a way. I'm glad that **** hole Dallas doesn't get them, but sad because I've grown used to that park being my second home having half season tickets. It is still a very good park.
