Doc Gooden/Darryl Strawberry 30 for 30 premiers tonight. Should be good.

I know the reason they chose to spotlight those 2 and it makes sense obviously, but I'd love to see a 30 for 30 on that whole '86 Mets team the way they did the '85 Bears and the Fab Five. Maybe this will be enough of that to satisfy me, I'm sure it'll be good either way.

They showed my high school, Hillsborough, a few times. That diner they were sitting in looked like the one we use to eat at before every game. It's right behind the baseball fields....

Blue Jays 1B Justin Smoak signs 2 year extension with a club option for 2019. Hrm, this is a Shapiro type move but the timing is a little curious. Ah well....Maybe it'll lead to a trade or something.

The did-he or didn't-he questions about steroids need to stop. What a tired story. I couldn't care less and a bunch of butthurt journalists aren't going to convince me that guys like Bonds ruined the game.

I mean, whether or not rkwittem cares is very far down the list of priorities to the general public.

According to David Lennon of Newsday, MLB could reduce the regular season schedule as part of the new CBA.

I wouldn't mind a reduction from 162 to 154 games (how it was before 1961). It allows for more days off/travel days and presumably a better product/less fatigue and injuries. The decrease isn't so drastic as to make it an entirely new game or invalidate all the previous records, either (people don't get bothered that Babe Ruth hit 60 HRs in fewer games than Maris hit 61 any longer). Having 154 games also allows for MLB to ditch the unbalanced schedule (and hopefully interleague play) if they want to do that.

In reality, people will have to look closely at what this would do to statistics and what that means for player salaries. More importantly, would owners want to stomach lost revenue from having 4 fewer home games, 4 fewer games of gate receipts % as the visiting team, and 8 fewer games of lost TV advertising revenue.
