This is a pretty cool article that displays the lost art of pitcher's fielding their position. I remember watching Greg Maddux and trying to emulate his hop at the end of his delivery to get myself squared up to the hitter after delivering a pitch. Grienke has the athleticism to be able to alter how he decelerates to get his drive leg on the ground and move to the ball.
That is incredible athleticism by Grienke...especially the side to side agility when he guessed wrong that the bunt would go to the 3B side.

I've never seen those shots before. That's fantastic.

I bet he knows how he hits compares to others, and he measured out that the RF/RCF area was everybody-else-proof. He was like: "Yeah, that's good for me bruh." The '07 HRD is at least a little bit of proof of that.

A right-handed will never hit an oppo shot into McCovey Cove, even with the new juiced balls.

          - - - - - - - - - - - - -

As for the defensive pitcher thing, besides the amazing Buehrle play (and the snazzy Colon play a couple of years back), I believe there was another play that year or the year after by a pitcher on either a bunt or a swinging bunt. It was like something up the third base line where the pitcher made a sliding snag at it and then Jetered it to first base in time. I believe the game was played at Coors Field but it might not have been a Rockies pitcher. I want to say that it was a Brewers pitcher. Anybody remember this play or the pitcher's name?

I want to find that play again. It's severely underlooked, so much so that I forget the darn player who did it. I gotta archive that one for sure.

Chris Bosio doesn't make it through 1 season in Detroit.

Tigers general manager Al Avila said Wednesday that pitching coach Chris Bosio was dismissed for using insensitive language directed at a team employee.

Yeah, it's one of those things people need to know the facts of before they judge either way. It will come out hopefully.

“Someone in our coaches’ room asked me (Monday afternoon) about Stumpf,’’ Bosio said. “And I said, “Oh, you mean, ‘Spider Monkey.’ That’s his nickname. He’s a skinny little white kid who makes all of these funny faces when he works out.

“The kid thought we were talking about him. He got all upset. He assumed we were talking about him. I said, “No, no, no. We’re talking about Stumpf.’

MLB Central trivia question (I'm trimming the fat from it):

There are two active players who have played more than 1,500 games for their current team, and it's not their original team. Name them.

                              - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I'm not going to watch the answer on the show. I'm just going to skip it, and take guesses when I have a thought about it. My current one guess so far is:

I won't be doing research on this one either. Just dumb effing luck.

EDIT: A second guess for me would be...

                              Spoiler

But I don't know if he's played for another team.

Your guess is a very good one. That has to be one of them, I think.

                                Adrian Beltre?
