    That's not true at all.
I worked in Tampa for a few years, people love baseball there.
They just don't want to go sit inside a concrete dump for 3 hours a day when it is sunny and 85 degrees outside and the beached are 5 minutes away.
With the right stadium and ownership they could thrive.

Anyone know the reasoning for naming ASG replacements before the final vote?

Also shouldn't the replacement be someone in the final vote before finding another qualified player?

An interesting read/interview about shifts and three hitters' approach to it.

"Why don't guys just hit ground balls to short?" Three veteran batters tell us what makes adjusting to the shift so difficult.

For those that don't want to read the whole thing (it's pretty long): why hitters don't just bunt or slap it to the opposite field every time...

I LOVE the RF on this...I like this rendering much much more than the new one they've come up with.

I think my takeaway from that same article is these players don't even want to beat the shift. All of their responses are much less about how difficult it is to control where the batted ball goes and much more about wanting the extra base hit and the homer and not caring if they get beat by the shift in a given AB.

MLB is currently on pace to have fewer than 50 balls in play per game for the first time ever.

                Currently on track for 49.7

It goes to whoever was next in votes at the position of the player that dropped.

Or in Yadi's case, if you get hit in the ding dong as a catcher you automatically get to go to the All-Star game.

                        Giles needs anger management.

That trade has been pretty mediocre for both teams....Giles obviously has had his ups and downs. Vince Velasquez has been OK for the Phils but is still figuring some things out, Oberholtzer is out of the bigs, and Thomas Eshelman has yet to make the big leagues, and Mark Appel retired before throwing a major league pitch.

Maybe if he pitched better he wouldn't be getting pulled and having "reason" to cuss out the manager.
