I think it's time to can Matheny.

No it’s time for Moz to stop trying to buy our way back into the playoffs with the likes of trades and free agent signings and get back to developing talent and winning the Cardinal way.

We missed the playoffs a year and our front office lost its damn mind.

This is why I don't actually have a huge problem with the way the game has changed (lots of K's and HR's not many singles...).I think a big reason we see so many strikeouts is because there are so many pitchers with nasty stuff. I don't mind strikeouts if it is a result of pitchers being very talented. It's easy to get on the hitters to make an adjustment, but its hard to adjust to 96 with sink followed by nasty slider that looks the same out of the pitcher's hand

I always like the "looking strikeout" because it has more of an effect the next time around. If the hitter is in a similar situation again he's going to most likely swing at something he probably wouldn't have before and get a 2nd K this time of the swinging variety.

I always enjoyed the strikeout looking on a fastball right down the middle because I had the batter so confused based on previous pitch selection. That was always the most rewarding.

And beyond that, I loved striking someone out swinging with a 3-2 changeup because they were so sure they were getting a fastball.

This year's regular season is 107 days old so far, yet yesterday marks only the sixth time this year that both the Yankees and Red Sox lost.

Ok OS, who are your mid-season award winners?

NL MVP: Javy Baez (probably biased, but he has been so important to that lineup)
                NL Cy Young: Jacob deGrom
                NL ROY: Juan Soto
                NL Reliever: Josh Hader
NL Manager: Gabe Kapler (maybe would have gone Craig Counsell if it weren't for getting swept by the Buccos. That darned recency bias)

AL MVP: Mike Trout (Jose Ramirez and Mookie Betts are making it close though)
AL Cy Young: Chris Sale (Trevor Bauer very close)
                AL ROY: Gleyber Torres
                AL Reliever: Edwin Diaz
                AL Manager: Alex Cora

                  Re: MLB Off-Topic

Just watched a nice little one-on-one sit-down talk between Barry Bonds and the Giants' PA announcer Renel Brooks-Moon. It was almost like a couch therapy session in a way, where Bonds was just getting things out but in a very lighthearted way.

I do wish people saw this side of Barry more. I met him once and I didn't get a jerk. He may have been one in the past or may have come off as that to the media or people that didn't like him or something, but his "changed" persona isn't a fake one right now. Pretty good guy that I wish he would have at least purported himself as during his career.

I wonder if he would have worked out better now with social media around, because at the tail-end of his career he was doing things with the online community a little bit, introverted as he is.

Sounds like Kevin Pillar's injury was almost fatal.

Did he? I thought the limit was 130 AB's, whereas he had 133 PA's, but only 113 official at bats? (I gotta be honest, I had completely forgotten he even existed before this year)
