That's also pretty much my issue with the current obsession with on base percentage. No one really cares if they walk your star hitter, he's not hurting you that way. I want my best hitter swinging the bat and driving in runs, not just passing the buck to the next guy. Even a single is a hell of a lot better than a walk, as a single can drive in runs, walks almost never do.

Call me old school, but I want my best hitter to be getting RBI's, not walks.

Well if there are runners in scoring position, the approach changes, and you see that with defensive positioning at times too

This is a pretty random question, but this is the off topic thread so....

Are Bartolo and Adrian Beltre the only players left who played in the 90's? I can't really think of anyone else....

        Michigan Wolverines

My guess was LaTroy Hawkins but I looked him up and nope.

          Joe Nathan? nope

That's all I could come up with. I wondered about RA Dickey but I think it took him way longer than the 90s to debut and he's not active anyway

All I know is Beltre is the only active player who played at Candlestick.

This is the whole City of Cincinnati's problem with Joey Votto. lol

Seriously tho, would you rather your star player swing at bad pitches so he doesn't walk?
I have pretty much watched 75% of the Reds games the last 10 years and there are multiple at bats per game that Votto doesn't get a good pitch to hit.

                    Rays new stadium...

See-through walls and a fixed translucent roof are key features of the proposed downtown Tampa ballpark unveiled by the Tampa Bay Rays. But the cost left Hillsborough officials cautious.

I feel like that stadium would produce a lot of glare but at least that's partially addressed with some of the tinted glass.

                        Field looks SO boring.

Also, that is a lot of foul territory for a modern stadium.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Non retractable roof? And 30,000 seat capacity? And costing nearly 900m! Sure,, it's an upgrade over Tropicana, but that doesn't say much.

When will mlb finally get these stadium issues resolved?

BTW for Braves fans: Alex Anthopoulos was on the radio here last night. Basically he said he took the advice of multiple GMs who went to new organizations by not quickly moving players. It seems those GMs had regrets that they pulled the trigger on deals near the beginning of the year rather than sitting back and seeing what talent they have with the club. It seems that approach has worked well for AA.

It also seems like from reading between the lines that the Braves might be targeting a SP at the trade deadline so don't be surprised if that happens.
