Re: MLB Off-Topic
Cubs pitching Prospect Oscar De La Cruz hit with an 80 game PED suspension. Rumors are he was caught with the same stuff as Robby Cano.
Also MLB has reinstated Jenrry Mejia for the 2019 season. He can start working out at the Mets facilities after the All Star Break. Can pitch in the minors in August and can start is normal routine in Spring training 2019.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Not to drag the shift discussion through more mud but I've always wondered what would happen to contracts if power/pull guys who face dramatic shifts decided to go ahead and bunt. If a guy paid to bash and rake suddenly is bunting but still has a nice OBP, why would anyone pay him big bucks?
What if he has like .400+ BA because he's just bunting nonstop. He's not getting HRs or RBI and his numbers look pretty lame.
Does the defense stop shifting? Would they say "you know what, this guy is too much of a threat, let's just give him the bunt single and eat it", or do they modify somehow, maybe the pitchers start learning new defensive positioning after throws to be better prepared to field the bunt. Maybe a LF moves in to play a shallow third type positioning (there may be a rule against that, forgive my ignorance)
I just think generally speaking, these power hitting guys get paid to hit for power, they don't want to hit 200 bunt singles a year, that won't get them a $300M contractWolverines Wings Same Old Lions Tigers Pistons Erika ChristensenComment
