With Baines getting in one would assume Edgar Martinez isn't that far behind......

Glad to see Baines and Smith make it in. They waited far too long IMO.

As for SNB starting an hour earlier? THANK GOD!

I honestly quit caring a while ago. It used to be special to me. Sacred even. But not to me anymore. I've got my own hall of fame. And if Bonds ain't in it. Its garbage.

I liked having Baseball Tonight or whatever highlight show for an hour between the last afternoon games and the SNB game, but I guess I understand the ET crowd needs to be able to see these games too heh.

Harold Baines, huh? DH's across the nation are rejoicing.

This is a worse addition than Jim Rice, who was a much better baseball player than Harold Baines.

A DH who never hit 30 HR in a season? No thanks, I'll pass. Why don't we put Garrett Anderson in while we're at it?

Yeah I mean he had a long career and racked up hits due to said longevity, don't get this one.

Not saying he was bad or anything, just wouldn't put him in the Hall of Fame.

Speaking of HOF, Mike Trout already has the 90th highest fWAR in baseball history and he likely will play at least another 10 years.

The guy could retire today and I think be a 1st ballot.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

I didn't expect to see such shade thrown at Baines by some. Yes, his numbers weren't the greatest but he was a very consistent player for a very long time. Consistency like that is something that should be rewarded IMO. It's not like he got in through the regular voting process so he's had to literally wait YEARS to get in. We also have to look at the guy through the context of the times. Before Harold Baines DHs were guys who were either old as heck and couldn't field a position or could barely hit their weight. I have no issue with his inclusion in the Hall.

Maybe i'm just too permissive in my criteria? Oh well.

It certainly opens the door for guys like Carlos Delgado at least. (who should've hung around on the ballot for more than that one measly year)
