So pleased to see my team flushed it's 1st round draft pick down the toilet! Wouldn't be as much of an issue if they had a $200+ million payroll, or even 100+.

True. But it's a risk a small market team can't afford to take.

Personally I welcomed it, not too many of their other first round picks have worked out well recently so what was the harm?

Puk may work out and then there's Chapman.

Other than that you have to go back to the 90's to find a successful first round pick (Zito or Chavez maybe?)

That's the thing. If you ask the average 21 year old if they would rather be a star QB in the NFL, or a star outfielder in MLB, it's no contest. Hell just playing in the NFL vs MLB. It's a status thing.

Not just that, but as mentioned a few posts earlier, 1st rounder in NFL draft all but guarantees you're in the NFL. A 1st round pick might not make an mlb roster for a few years if ever.

I'm sure decision would be different if it's deciding between NFL and NBA. I'm sure if guys had to choose, they'd go with NBA. If you're even a half decent bench player in the NBA, you're making several million per year. And 1st rounders in NBA play in the NBA instantly, minus stash picks.

Someone on the Jays subreddit posted Stroman's instagram video of him getting a MASSIVE chest/torso Toronto skyline tattoo and there it was...."sigh"

Alright that's it, with this **** and Jim Leyritz's legal issues, that 1996 World Series should be overturned.

I just wish the Cubs would admit that because Addison Russell is making just $3.4M, has a mostly non-guaranteed contract, is a somewhat capable option at SS, and the team is pinching pennies right now--these are the actual reasons why the Cubs are hanging onto him despite him being a sociopath. All this couching things in 'what the experts are saying' and the 'great policies MLB has' is total BS. You can find an "expert" out there to give you any opinion you want on any subject. This is, was, and will be a very poor decision for all parties. Not least of all for Addison Russell when he is mercilessly booed at Wrigley Field, slumps badly, and the team cuts him anyway despite all this hogwash they are spewing about The Right Thing To Do.

Cubs owner Tom Ricketts said the team decided it would rather support Addison Russell after his suspension for violating the league's domestic abuse policy rather than "just cut him."

I’ll post pics later, but it looks like the Braves are bringing back the red jersey (with blue piping now). Home whites look unchanged.

Hopefully we’ll leave the grays alone and go with red lettering and piping on the blue jerseys.

                            I hated that red jersey.

It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.

Not a fan of the red jerseys either.

(I know they do these things a couple years in advance so my joke doesn't quite fit but)

Judging from the promotional bobbleheads (I assume they'd update the uniforms for them), there's the (sorta) new red jersey. But the home and blues aren't changing. I haven't seen anything on the grays or creams.

                                Swanberson cracks me up.
