    Re: MLB Off-Topic

So here's a bit of a hypothetical question. Considering Jackie Bradley Jr's 29 game hit streak as of today, let's say that somewhere along the way here, he is walked 4x in a game, essentially giving him no official AB's, going 0 for 0.

Does that/should that count against his streak?

Imo no. What's he gonna do, take a step onto the plate before the pitch and swing if they're throwing outside?

The official rules of a hit streak are that you must have an official at bat for it to get broken, so in the example above it would be intact. The only exception to that is if you record a sac fly, then you lose the hit streak.

Going 0 for 0 is the equivalent of sitting the game out. Wouldn't have any effect on the hit streak.

I feel like people would clamor for an asterisk though. Does anyone know how many times this happened to Dimaggio if at all during his streak?

It never happened. They were talking about this on the Cubs broadcast last night.

Nope...it never happened to him during his streak. I would say the chances of it happening are pretty slim...it's rare for a player to play the entire game and end up with a 0-0 line without a sac fly I'd think.

These numbers aren't right but I heard on the radio that during the hitting streak so far JBJ has seen something like 58 pitchers while Joe D saw something like 38 for his whole streak.

Puts what he's doing in a different perspective.

DiMaggio is apparently the first man to use the hidden ball trick as a batter. And he did it 20 times.

                            Not a fan of Gomes.
Couldn't stand the way he had to fidget with his helmet 83x an AB or the way he worked so hard to look like Softball Guy.
He reminds me of the novice skiier who purchases all the latest and top-of-the-line gear so he looks fantastic before tumbling down the mountain, face first.

Gomes did a great job looking like an MLB player. Until he took the field.
