Don't think any baseball games were played at Jerry World. Or the Super Dome. Or the the dome in Atlanta. It would've been a national tragedy to have the Super Bowl at Tropicana Field, so nope to that.
It was Qualcomm in 98. Padres World Series, and Broncos over Packers.

Metrodome? Or was Super Bowl 26 held in 1992?

Edit: Close, but the Super Bowl was in January of 92 after the Twins-Braves World Series in 91.

Interesting read of how the Angels blocked the Dodgers from building a Class A stadium in San Fernando Valley a while back.

A company leaked some photos of a possible new stadium for the Diamondbacks.

It would be a retractable roof stadium as well. There were a few different prototypes, but the photos were taken down as soon as this news article broke.

That either has to be fake, or they are fine ripping their previous stadium part-for-part when it comes to field dimensions and stands placement.

I know some teams do that sometimes like the Yankees, but I can't imagine they are going to do a carbon copy of Chase Field. I mean they even have the now removed dirt path on there. Why would they bring it back if they wanted to remove it here, unless it was just somebody playing cute with an old Chase Field image?

EDIT: In fact, a very quick Google Image search of Chase Field and you'll find the shot that was used for that.

That being said, I really like Chase Field, including its placement in the city.

I dont see anything wrong with Chase Field, or how the new stadium looks better than it either.

Dbacks are far from list of teams needing new stadium.

A's/Rays obviously need new ones. After them, Jays, and maybe ones like Angels/Dodgers/Royals/White Sox could use new ones too(I'm only basing this on age of building. Have no idea condition of buildings)

There are some internal issue with it that you don't hear about unless you are a local. The stadium needs some renovations and major upgrades in some areas. The problem is Miracopa County which owns the lease is refusing to help pay for some of those renovations and upgrades which cost millions obviously. The Dbacks have been in a dispute with the county over this for about 5 years now and have made it known they will leave the county for a new park if the city doesn't step up.

I agree I love Chase Field, but they do a good job of hiding their issues when you see the games on TV.

The stadium is 23 years old and I agree might be a little too soon for something new, but look at the Braves, Turner Field was what 19-20 years old when they decided to leave for SunTrust park. Not out of the norm these days. Same thing is happening with the Texas Rangers. They will have a new park next season, but for different reasons.

I'll admit that I hated Chase Field's sound system. I know the roof has leaks as well. After that, that's about it.

Roof definitely leaks. Phoenix is one of the fastest growing cities so Chase Field's downtown location really isn't fit for traffic (Traffic in Phx is terrible now due to the growth). Downtown Phoenix is terrible now as well. Parts of the stadium are falling apart. There are plumbing issues as well.

They've made some upgrades through out the stadium over the years that helped the overall appeal of the park and it is still one of the cheapest parks to watch a game.

They just want out and I can see a scenario where they end up with a new Stadium in Scottsdale somewhere.

The Las Vegas Aviators are averaging more fans per game than the Marlins.

And if you combine Rays and Marlins attendance, it wouldn't even be enough to crack top half of the MLB.

One day MLB will learn you dont need multiple Florida teams.

1 team representing entire state would probably draw almost the same numbers as both teams combined anyways. All while getting a new market added as well. Probably adding at least a few dozen million dollars of revenue into the league.

A new stadium in a way better part of town does wonders......
