Saw Yelich is out of the HRD due to his back...that’s a bummer.

        He fears Vladdy.

Lol, but seriously, that sucks. Was really looking forward to that matchup.

Apparently Van Wagenen got angry while meeting with the coaching staff and threw a chair now. This just gets better and better.
Man, Brodie is out of his depth? No kidding. Who could've possibly saw that coming?

Kudos to Justin Verlander for whining openly about the baseballs. I don't mind more homers, but if it's a simple baseball manufacturing issue gone awry, I think they should get back to a more consistent middle-of-the-road product.

Moreover, you have Manfred complaining incessantly about pace of play and length of games and on the other hand it seems like he's overseen the "juiced baseball" era which directly leads to higher scores, more moves to the bullpen etc. Strengthens my feelings that Rob Manfred is just one giant hypocrite.

Consistent as if to say "not juiced." Whatever that means in terms of the manufacture or properties of the baseballs, that's what I mean.

I don't know what that sentence says, but the consistency in the manufacturing process is what is causing the increase in ball flight according to research on it. The rubber core is more centered and the ball is more circular because manufacturing of the ball has gotten better.

Then they should make them a little less circular, no? Give a result consistent with how baseballs were made before manufacturing got so much "better" all of a sudden in summer of 2015.

I'm sure automation has caused the more consistent product. Probably reduces overhead like it does in every industry, so I doubt they'd go back to a more expensive and longer process.

Isn't Manfred on record calling the baseballs a "handmade" product?

But, point is if the manufacturing process is that good, then building a little bit of wobble back into the design shouldn't be that hard.

this would be a great commercial/marketing campaign: ''our balls have wobble''.

They're hand stitched. From what I understand, that's the only part that a person does manually. Wrapping the string around the core is done by machines.

I guess they could go back to having people do that would reduce the consistency, but again that's a longer, more expensive process. And companies rarely choose to do that.

MLB could require it in the contract, I suppose.
