MLB Off-Topic
Interesting read on the scope of injuries caused by foul balls. Over 2,000 deaths. Yikes.
https://deadspin.com/what-a-foul-ball-can-do-1835706809
Adds an important context to that discussion. This number accounts for not just MLB but NCAA and MiLB as well.
Also does a good job of showing that death and even permanent injury doesn’t happen immediately. It takes days, weeks, months to show the full result of taking a ball to the head and by that time we’ve moved on. These people are being forgotten. It’s messed up.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers
NFL - Buffalo Bills
MLB - Cincinnati Reds

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Just wanted to throw a few random facts out there:
1) My life was forever changed by a softball hit to my head from a line drive on November 5, 2014. I suffer from PCS to this day. For all I know, I can't ever play baseball again, or maybe even ride roller coasters. I coach softball, and can't demonstrate to my players how to dive (from the jolt). I full well know the extent of permanent damage to the head, even though mine is significantly less severe than others (I'm lucky I wasn't more disabled, much less killed). I rue the decision(s) I made that led up to that. Just wanted to add perspective with that foreknowledge.
2) Several foul ball deaths in non-major league parks in fact have been away from the action, like in line for concessions (not alert). I don't have a source for this at the moment, but this has been brought up last year on previous radio segments and television interviews I've heard.
3) Surprisingly, my minority isn't as low as I thought it would be. I'm part of a 22% crowd (just an inner thought).
Anyway, interesting discussion being had, and more interesting article. I do like how they also mention the change in the baseballs.
