au contraire mon frere, I believe Houston is absolutely sincere in that they are sorry they were caught cheating. emphasis on ''caught''.

The Ringer has an article about that press conference. This quote is gold

Bregman and Altuve issued statements that were as comically short as the players themselves before retreating to the clubhouse.
Houston had four months to prepare a statement of contrition, or at least a good excuse, for the team’s trash-can-banging scheme. Instead of showing remorse, though, Jim Crane, Alex Bregman, and José Altuve showed their Ass-tros.

I wonder if Sports Illustrated saw this coming for Houston too, back in 2014.

I read Houstons books ''Astroball'' and ''Hurricane Season'' last spring. I thought at the time they were both really good reads, but now I wish I could get that time back that I spent reading garbage. I was (at the time) really impressed with the Beltran chapter and parts and thought ''this guy is a future HoF manager'', when instead he was just a future former manager.

Most of the focus seems to be on 2017 and a bit less on 2018 as well but the punishment was really light when you think about the fact they’ve been doing it for at least 3 years. Just because it didn’t quite get them a championship again as other teams and players really started catching on to it doesn’t make it any better.

And I love how players keep talking about it and answering the media about it as Manfred is desperately trying to sweep it under the rug.

NL MVP Cody Bellinger says Astros' Jose Altuve stole 2017 AL MVP from Aaron Judge.

"I thought the apologies were whatever," Bellinger said, referencing the Astros' public apologies Thursday from their spring training site. "I thought [owner] Jim Crane's was weak. I thought [commissioner Rob] Manfred's punishment was weak, giving [the players] immunity. Those guys were cheating for three years. I think what people don't realize is [Jose] Altuve stole an MVP from [Aaron] Judge in '17. Everyone knows they stole the ring from us. But it's over."

The A’s went to the league about it and reported it in 2017.

                        Re: MLB Off-Topic

Many in baseball are asking why it took a whistleblower — Fiers, the former Astros pitcher — to spark MLB to action when so many people had suspected the Astros of wrongdoing for years, with some taking the extra step of reporting those suspicions to MLB.

“We investigate any allegation that’s brought to this office,” an MLB spokesman said Monday, declining to say how many of those allegations it received.
In a better world I would ask Manfred to show his work: how many allegations were brought up to his office? How detailed they were? What/how/when/who did you investigate?

But we live in this one and after the Red Sox's report, and if nothing else is uncovered, it is time to play ball.

Just look at how people were talking about Fiers. Still got that locked down, keep things behind closed doors mindset. Plus, remember that people still think cheating is just a charm of the game. Ironically the same mindset that pushes all the unwritten rules enabled this whole thing
