Teams should band together and forfeit every spring training game against them. Let them start the season cold as they can make it.

Too bad Correa wasn't as passionate about not cheating as he is defending Altuve.

if you look at Houston's spring schedule, they don't even play any of their AL rivals that would have as much reason to have a grudge with them. they have Boston on their schedule but folks in glass houses...
they also play Detroit but the Tigers need as much practice as they can stand. you know the old saying, ‘‘practice makes ... not so terrible’’. the real popcorn time for Houston begins opening day with the Angels and doesn't let up till September against the Yankees. too bad you never see pro teams get post-season bans. if there is any exception to the norm, it's the Asstros. unfortunately I expect them to be rewarded with October baseball

I honestly believe Altuve; Tony Gwynn HATED knowing what pitch was coming...catchers found that out and would tell him what pitch was coming to mess with him. He said the Expos were the worst and in his career they were the NL team he hit the lowest against. Some hitters absolutely DO not want to know what the pitch is and if they have to think like that, they won't hit.

Meh, all these Asstros are guilty even if they ignored the trash can banging. it's equal to Buck Weaver getting a lifetime ban for knowing about the Black Sox throwing games but not saying anything about. Altuve is as guilty as Hinch, who by all accounts didn't care for the whole operation either. ‘‘the only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing.’’

...probably not the best example to use there. Baseball historians are pretty much in agreement that Buck Weaver's situation was a gross miscarriage of justice. He should have never received a lifetime ban...and on Altuve I'm not saying he's "innocent", but I do believe that he didn't want the trash can/rely on it.

                    Re: MLB Off-Topic

I only wouldn't want to know if they were wrong, and if there's a chance of them being wrong then it's just going to make me lose trust of the system.

I think I've said this once before, but I would get totally out of whack when a pitcher shook off. It went from me having my own mindset to going: "Oh shoot, what did he just change to?" "Wait, is he now going away from the pitch that I expect or is he going to it?" Totally messed me up. Like if a catcher sat there and told me what pitch was coming, it would make me question if he's playing a reverse psychology thing or not. Complete oblivion is what would help me most in that case.

But if I knew what pitch was coming and there was undeniable certainty of it? I'm going to take that every pitch of every at-bat and in every game. I'm not saying I'd want to go to the electronic level they were going, I'm just saying that if I'm in Altuve's position, I'm embracing what I'm getting. I understand why some people are the other way, though.

Now, I'd never let someone tell me if a pitch is coming inside or outside, low or high, etc. because pitchers miss location. I'll guess for myself or sometimes try and hear the catcher, but that helps more when I'm ahead in the count. If I have two strikes, I gotta work for anything I can.

Also, remember that the banging wasn't just for the batter. It was also for a runner. If you know that a curve is coming and it's possible they're throwing it in the dirt, there's a possible better opportunity to steal a base. Maybe this is when it happened with Altuve at the plate.

oh yeah, I believe Weaver got a raw deal too, but if the company line is it was wrong to know about others disgracing the game 100 hundred years ago, Altuve and Hinch ought to be held to the same high moral standard. the best thing Houston can do is admit they were all 100% wrong and move on and let their future play speak for them. I just don't want Houston players trying to rationalise that maybe they are being treated too harshly. sometimes the best way to keep a puppy on the straight and narrow is let him smell the **** he's responsible for. Altuve had a chance to do the right thing in 2017 but he preferred to take the easy way out. and doing the right thing is sometimes doing the hardest thing.

Exactly. Having the catcher tell you something is just another thing to add to all the stuff you have to sift through up there. That's different than having a team system and being 99% sure you know the pitch.

Correia isn't just an Asstro, he's an asshat. he wants Fiers to apologise for not stopping them in 2017 AND they earned and deserved the WS trophy. lmgdao

if Jim Crane has one ounce of credibility or one shred of decency left, he'll set Mr. Correia straight, whether it's publicly or privately. there just simply isn't room in Major League Baseball for Correia's mindset. I guess the rest of MLB owes Houston an apology for what amounts to ''body-shaming'' poor mistreated Houston. if Crane doesn't have the decency to do what is right, I hope at least Dusty Baker does. as it stands right now he's the only Astro I have any respect for. I hope he doesn't let this team take away in one year what Dusty spent the last 50+ years building.
