Re: MLB Off-Topic
Again, I never stated that it changes the fact that the Astros cheated. All I was doing was posing a question I had thought about, because I see guys like Judge, Bellinger, Trout, and others get praised for being "good guys in baseball" for speaking out against the cheating, and I wonder if they would've had that same stance if they were put in that position.
I know that its impossible to answer because we don't know 100% sure what these guys would do, but I do think we shouldn't praise those speaking out as somehow being better than those Astros players, because know one knows 100% how they would've handled that situation, because as you said, they weren't allowed that opportunity.
The Astros cheated. We know that. Were they the only ones? We don't know and will likely never know. Do the Astros deserve the ridicule? Absolutely! Do the players deserve to be taunted by the fans of opposing teams for their involvement? Absolutely!
Do they deserve to have their integrity questioned by fellow players who weren't in that position, or worse yet, said they should get a "beating" for doing what they did? That I'm not sure about.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
MLBPA Press Release:
The day after The Athletic published its Nov. 12 article, Major League Baseball informed the Players Association it would be conducting an investigation, and that it would want to interview players as a part of that investigation. MLB said from the outset that it was not its intention to discipline players. This was not surprising because the applicable rules did not allow for player discipline, because even if they did players were never notified of the rules to begin with, and because in past cases involving electronic sign stealing MLB had stated that Club personnel were responsible for ensuring compliance with the rules.
Against this backdrop, the Association on Nov. 13 sought and received confirmation from the league that the players interviewed and any other players would not be disciplined in connection with the allegations made in the article. We received that confirmation promptly on the evening of Nov. 13, and the player interviews began days later.
Any suggestion that the Association failed to cooperate with the Commissioner's investigation, obstructed the investigation, or otherwise took positions which led to a stalemate in the investigation is completely untrue. We acted to protect the rights of our members, as is our obligation under the law.
Over the last two weeks, the Association and MLB have had regular dialogue on potential rule changes affecting sign stealing, in-game technology and video, data access and usage, Club audits and disclosures, player education, and enforcement – including the potential for player discipline. Written proposals have been exchanged, and we have made it clear to MLB that no issue is off the table, including player discipline.
This is a pivotal time for our game, and these are critically important issues. How the parties handle the next several weeks will significantly affect what our game looks like for the next several decades. The opportunity is now to forge a new path forward.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I think it’s okay for other players to get up on their high horse until proven they’re liars, too. Haven’t heard any Red Sox guys say anything... there were rumors the Dodgers and Yankees did some sign stealing like this, so if that comes out then Judge, Stanton, Bellinger, Turner, et al deserve to be flamed to an even higher degree.
It’s good to be skeptical, I am too. The whole scandal has been disappointing as a fan and makes you question the validity of the results the same as you would if there was a betting or officiating scandal or something. But until those stories come out, if they exist, it’s just skepticism. I’m giving those guys the benefit of the doubt for now.NHL - Philadelphia Flyers

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Manager David Ross is giving the first shot at the leadoff spot to probably-soon-to-be-traded Kris Bryant, with Rizzo in the 2-hole. Probably Baez 3, Schwarber 4, Contreras 5 I'd guess.

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I am wondering where everyone sits on the part of the topic that no one has seemed to talk about yet. PEDs vs sign stealing. To me sign stealing the way it was done by the Astro's had much more effect that PED use did. Take the average ball player and juice him up or simply just tell him what pitch is coming and I bet at the end of the year the stats will be much better if he knows what's coming than if he simply has more muscles. So, Altuve was probably a Hall of Famer, but now?
