    Re: MLB Off-Topic

Am I the only one who doubts the Mets this season? I just feel like we haven't fixed our bullpen issues whatsoever that totally ruined our season in the first half of last year, and instead focused on signing marginal rotation arms to replace Wheeler (who wasn't worth $20M dont get me wrong but is still far better than Michael Wacha and his 1.5+ WHIP)

I have us finishing at a distant 4th in the division with the Phillies winning it and Atlanta getting the wild card, though I still expect Washington to be in the mix before ultimately falling short by 2-3 games

But what are people hoping to see in that game? A fight? The interest has zero to with the actual game, or who wins/loses.

Well yes that's exactly why. Why do people turn into nascar. To watch wrecks sadly. Theres gonna be alot of tension in these games. And people want to tune in to see that.

Wait wait wait, it isn't like that. Sure, there is a chance they fight. But just the atmosphere is going to be electric. Maybe Fiers gets lighted up. Maybe he throws a complete game. I mean, every time he gets a K the crowd is going to go wild.

Since MLB isn't doing anything, teams need to get fans involved.

Fans should bring binoculars to the outfield and yell out every pitch from the Astros. If it's the fans doing it, MLB will be forced to do something. Is MLB going to kick everyone out of the outfield? Ban outfield seats?

Even if the fans are wrong, it will be a terrible image that they have to do something.

Intensity? I'd imagine all teams and their fans are going to turn it up a notch when the Astros come to town. There's some teams that haven't come close to the playoffs in a while. This st least gives their fans a rooting interest outside of the playoff race.

                This guy right here:

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Madison Bumgarner has been competing in rodeo events under the alias Mason Saunders, and he even won $26,560 in a team-roping competition in December, according to a story published Sunday by The Athletic.

                ................

Diamondbacks general manager Mike Hazen told The Athletic he was "not going to get into discussing specific contract language" when asked about Bumgarner's hobby.

So I'm guessing he has a clause that lets him do this but if he gets injured part of the contract (or in whole) becomes void/not-guarantee?

Yeah, it's dumb. The ones on the NBA jerseys are dumb too and still dumb.

Are they doing this crap for the regular season too?

The Nike swoosh doesn't bother me. To me its the same as if a team was wearing a commemorative patch.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

                        This is pretty bizarre:

MLB is urging a federal judge to dismiss a lawsuit filed by participants in DraftKings fantasy baseball contests over the sign stealing by the Houston Astros.

First of all, you have some DFS bros trying to get some cash from MLB. Then, you have MLB making a filing wherein they state that "cheating is just a part of the landscape here, man." Such a bizarre position to take. Maybe not from a cynical or liability standpoint, I guess, but just seems bizarre overall. I mean, instead of let's make some common sense enforceable rules, enforce them rather than putting our heads in the sand, and hold people accountable when that needs to happen.

I personally liked the argument that they hadn't defrauded their season ticket holders, because they never explicitly said that they wouldn't cheat. Got to love that level of lawyering

there's at least 10 other places the D'Backs would be better off playing than Vancouver, Arizona being one.
