My thing with the steroids is the way people make it sound. You take steroids you turn into Bonds. Yet there was only one Barry. There was never 10 Barry Bonds out there.

He was just on another level. Was watching a world series film on 2002 the year the Angels won the world series over San Francisco and even though they lost. Bonds was just unbelievable in that series. 4 HRs. Reached base 21-30 plate appearances! 13 walks (7intentional. Just insane.

Great film btw. Highly recommend it. Was too young to appreciate that series entirely.

I love this. I would love it more if Kris Bryant doesn't get traded. Rossy coming in making power moves. Nice.

Would be even better if Theo could finally get us an actual capable lead off guy to permanently address the position so we don’t have to keep trying to piecemeal a lineup together for the spot like this. But in the meantime I’m good with this arrangement.

          Re: MLB Off-Topic

I know we all have "Astros-sign stealing" fatigue...but I picked up the Lindy's preview magazine and there is a section on the sign stealing. A few things I found interesting, especially given the outrage from other players recently:

          - Many in the industry believe that the Dodgers were stealing signs in the same way the Astros were in the 2017 World Series; when asked, Kenley Jansen basically admitted it saying "every team is doing it". Knowing that, the outrage from Dodger players is interesting.

          - Additionally, they interviewed multiple people in the industry who said that the following teams are known to have been using a system similar to the Astros to steal signs: Red Sox, Yankees, Dodgers, and Diamondbacks while the Cubs, Indians, Nationals, Blue Jays, and Rangers all were spying on opponents, but to a lesser "technological" degree.

After reading the article, it is clear to me that MLB has released a very sanitized report really because they had to. Fiers accusations forced their hand...

Kenley's recent comments (https://theathletic.com/1611018/2020...tros-cheating/) don't seem at all like everyone is doing it. Said they should be banned from a postseason, said they're cheating is worse than betting on baseball or steroids, among other things. In Novemeber, he said "big fine or someone should be banned forever". When was he interviewed for that?

Exactly. Taking steroids doesn't mean you're suddenly a great player.

A top guy on steroids might have been average without it. But an average guy on steroids might have been a career minor leaguer.

There’s gotta be some difference in how the information was obtained and used that makes what Houston (and probably Boston) did worse then anything LA did. There are acceptable layers of sign stealing as we know. Or players are just full of ****. I wouldn’t put it past them.

There is no point in that story when the conversation even comes up as to whether or not other teams are doing it?

No idea...the article insinuated that everyone in the industry believes the 2017 World Series had all the home runs it did because both teams were stealing signs via video; Jansen's comments when asked about it were "every team...you can't trust nobody."

I was really just fishing for a link to a story that said that because I couldn't find any statements of his saying anything like "everyone is doing it" and could only find outright condemnation, but with the clarification, I found...

Weary from battling digital thieves the past two Octobers and the regular-season games in between, Kenley Jansen carries within him a creative idea that he is sure would stop sign stealing in its tracks.

                          They lopped off a part.

I believe multiple teams were engaged in some form of high level sign steal schemes. I also believe the only reason the Astros (and Red Sox because of the Cora connection) were investigated, is because the Astros got exposed publicly. MLB and its owners want no part of a full fledged league wide investigation. Better to limit the “scandal” to a couple teams because the league wants nothing to do with what would come of the full truth being revealed to the public. And I wholeheartedly believe anyone that thinks their team never partook in such things is either naive or just flat out playing dumb.

Anyway, by all means bury this story six feet under right next to where will Tom Brady play next season so neither can be heard from again. *yawn*
