They're also using their own MLBN graphics when showing who's batting or pitching. How did people survive without scorebugs? And I wonder how people reacted when permanent scorebugs were added to broadcasts. Did they think it was a distraction?
The only thing comparable now to watching sports pre- all of the constant score/info overlay is listening to sports on the radio. And listening to baseball on the radio is so engaging and relaxing that when I turn it on i'm never instantly in need of knowing the score.

        Random, off-topic question.

If you have two strikes on you, and you check-swing at a ball in the dirt (in a possible drop-third strike scenario), even if you believe you didn't commit, do you head down to first base?

What I'd like to see at some point is one of those plays that is bang-bang at first where the batter-runner is out, and then goes back to complain to the home plate or first base umpire that he didn't go in the first place. Then of course they'll ask: "Why did you run, then?"

So even though you're trying to cover yourself by going down to first base just in case, are you incriminating yourself in the process? This is the same kind of scenario as fouling a ball off your foot that the umpires don't see.

This is akin to like being pulled over and having your hands out the window showing you don't have a weapon. Sometimes this is worse since you're only heightening the awareness of the officer.

depends on your skill level, if you suck as a hitter and you know it, you'll try and run to 1st so you don't have to deal with anymore 2 strike pitches, and also if you're a plodder on the paths, you might not want it since you'd rather keep swinging for extra bases

basically, speedy slappy guy> run to first
slow slugger> stay in the box

            Also wondered...

If the game depended on you reaching base and you had two strikes (again, DTS situation active), would you be willing to intentionally swing at a ball that shoots way wild of everything if you knew you would be able to reach base on a drop-third strike that way? Or do you think every major leaguer has far too much pride to even consider actually doing that?

(note it would be way too hard for someone to think of that on the fly and assure themselves that they could make it, but just as a hypothetical scenario)

BTW - MLB is airing 30 games starting at noon EST today;m, each a classic game for each team. For example, first game out of the shoot is Bautista’s bat flip in the 2015 playoffs vs the Rangers, Braves game is Acuna’s slam against Dodgers in 2018, Yankees game is Jeter’s first opening day in 1996, etc. Not what we hoped for, but at least it’s baseball...

                  Re: MLB Off-Topic

I know the Bautista game is the Jays most memorable one the past 25 years, but I feel like everyone's been showing it lately. I want more variety rather than them showing the same game over and over again.

MLB should've done "most memorable opening day game" for each team.

Jays have lost 8 straight opening games, but their most memorable might be franchise game 1 vs White Sox in 77. Or 17-9 win vs Yankees in 88, 13-10 win vs Indians to kick off 93(their first home game as WS champs) and so on.

Lots to choose from for all teams.

If by knocked out you mean he sucker punched Bautista and Bautista was still standing after that, and then went on to sweep Rangers in the playoffs, then sure.

I love how Beltre just bear hugged him away from it all...he knew Bautista got his clock cleaned.

Yeah, it doesn't need to be a classic game. It should be Opening Day game.

And I want more random season games on MLB Network. We're all aware of the classic games.

Make it feel like the regular season. Resorting to YouTube to watch random games is cumbersome.
