Re: MLB Off-Topic
What is the latest on the new stadium in Oakland. Feels like they have to get the damn thing approved by like 100 committees just to get to the point where they would still need funding for it, and then have it actually built. Seems like it would be easier to build a ballpark on the sun.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Thanks to the sports trading card manufacturer Topps Shane Bieber is referred to as Justin on the back of his 2019 Topps Stadium Club card. LOL! How could a card manufacturer make such a silly mistake like this? LOL!
NCAA- GO VOLS
NBA- GO CELTICS
MLB- GO BRAVES
NFL- GO COWBOYS
NHL- GO PREDATORS
NASCAR- Chase Elliott
MLS- LA Galaxy

The incorrect cards probably end up being worth more in the future. Though if it flat out said Justin Bieber, probably would be super rare cards with value one dayComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Any takers on these trivia questions? I realize they might be a bit too far out there to get a good guess.
Okay chaps, I just did some research and am making up my own trivia question here.
Only one team didn't have any active managers play for them at the MLB level at any time. Which team is that?
Now, for a significantly harder question:
Which team had the most active managers play for them at the MLB level?
For the sake of these questions, the Expos and the Nationals count as one team.
What makes the second question extremely hard is that while this team had 7 active managers play for them, there are four other teams to have 6, and another seven that have 5. Narrowing it down is incredibly difficult.
If it helps, here is the active managers list (not listing those without MLB service):
Spoiler
Brad Ausmus
Rocco Baldelli
David Bell
Bud Black
Bruce Bochy
Aaron Boone
Mickey Callaway
Kevin Cash
Alex Cora
Craig Counsell
Terry Francona
Ron Gardenhire
Andy Green
A.J. Hinch
Clint Hurdle
Gabe Kapler
Torey Lovullo
Dave Martinez
Don Mattingly
Bob Melvin
Charlie Montoyo
Rick Renteria
Dave Roberts
Scott Servais
Chris Woodward
Ned Yost
And then as a very helpful hint for the second question:
SpoilerThis team's active manager did play for them during his MLB playing career.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
That is correct. Topps wouldn't end up being the big winners here. It's going to be the select few people that pull the error card out of the packs of 2019 Topps Stadium Club cards. I'm a bigtime card collector myself & know about error cards from the past.
Frank Thomas had a RC error card made from Topps that didn't have black ink on the front of the card. It was his 1st Topps card. In the top left corner of the card it said "1st Round Pick" stamped with green writing/ink with a photo of him kneeling on one knee with a bat under one of his arms. However, his name was missing due to no black ink on the front.
That card at one time back when they were 1st released (1990 I believe) sold for as much as $3,000 at card shows. Now the card isn't worth nowhere near that much in the Beckett Baseball magazine. It has dropped in value significantly. That's the exact same thing that will happen with this Shane Bieber card too.Last edited by tonybologna; 08-06-2019, 12:28 PM.NCAA- GO VOLS

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Of all things to copy, they copied the NBA ASG jerseys and made them WORSE.
Why cant they just make players weekend jersey be throwbacks. Players collectively choose which throwback of their respective team they want to wear.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Some of best players weekend nicknames:
Nick Martini (apparently just a martini glass?)
Jeff McNeil (flying squirrel)
Evan Marshall (forgetting Sarah)
Teoscar Hernandez (Mr.Seeds)
Brock Stewart (Beef Stew)
Joey Votto (Who)
I wonder if anyone went the old video game route. The back of their jersey just says their position or the word Number.
"Now batting, Number 30"
"Stepping up to the plate, the first baseman"Last edited by Majingir; 08-06-2019, 04:56 PM.Comment
