    Re: MLB Off-Topic

    Crazy stat I just found.

The A's and Giants were involved in both of the longest World Series delays between games, each on a different coast.

In 1911, between the Philadelphia Athletics and the New York Giants, there was 6 consecutive days of rain between Games 3 and 4.

In 1989, between the Oakland Athletics and the San Francisco Giants, there was a 12-day delay between Games 2 and 3 because of the earthquakes.

Also, Boston won the only Best-of-7 series to go to 8 games in 1912.

Well, I guess I should throw out my trivia questions as just... trivia then.

The Boston Red Sox had the most active managers (7) play for them compared to any other team: Alex Cora, Rocco Baldelli, Bob Melvin, Kevin Cash, Chris Woodward, Dave Roberts, and Gabe Kapler.

There were four other teams to have had six active managers play for them: the Expos/Nationals, Giants, Indians, and Mets (also, each team comprised of at least one of the above listed players at some point).

The only team to not have any active managers play for them at any time is the Minnesota Twins.

Watched the 2016 World Series video today...man, you can forget what a classic that was. Even with the last two years (LA/Houston going 7, Boston/LA having an 18 inning game), neither one of those series has touched the drama of 2016. That Cubs team was a lot of fun...

Sadly, they've done nothing but backslide since then. So much for that impending dynasty built around young, homegrown position players. 105 years from now when they win again, I wonder what type of media it'll be recorded on?

a sort of PIP-Boy 3000 wristwatch/cellphone that displays 3D holographic images into the palm of your open hand. I'm guessing. I'm also guessing this championship drought will last considerably longer than the previous one. It will be referred to in the future as the Aroldis Curse.

I also think moving Bryant up to #2 had a long negative effect on this lineup...his BA w/RISP or bases loaded is in line with his general average...I think it cost them in 2017 big time...you don't want "pitcher then questionable leadoff guy" in front of a guy like him. I'll never get it, and I'll never get why it persisted.

Imo, Maddon and Epstein have worn out their welcome and run out of ideas.

I still don't agree with the idea of your best hitter being at #2 in an NL lineup if your pitcher is batting 9th, but his negative effects have probably come from the responsibility and duties of being placed there in the lineup more so than the team rewards of him performing well there.

On that front, it just goes to show that players can't simply be placed anywhere and expect to do well.

The Tigers had Verlander, Scherzer, Price, and Porcello at the same time, and still couldn't win, got rid of DD and are now the worst team in baseball. The grass isn't always greener

He makes a good point though. They've won 94+ the last 4 years. If that were all it was based on, he'd have an extension already

I disagree because they've been exiting earlier and earlier each year in October. Alfred E. Neuman could win 90 games with this roster--5 years worth of top draft picks plus a $200M payroll and Theo Epstein upstairs. Winning 90 games doesn't impress me given the context.

Dang, this guy is the manager of a CHAMPIONSHIP Cubs team and has routinely guided them to 90+ win seasons and Cubs fans want him gone?

Just trying to understand because things change fast. Just five years ago, I think Cubs fans would have raised a statue for the manager that led the team to a championship. But here we are.
