    R.I.P. Tyler Skaggs.

This was definitely not the front page I was expecting on ESPN today.

I think quite a few of us remember Darryl Kile and Tommy Hanson and Roy Halladay and Nick Adenhart and Jose Fernandez and Oscar Tavares in recent times (among others) as passing away far too soon. So I was looking at Adenhart's Wiki page to jog my memory--his passing was 10 years ago now--and he was actually the starting pitcher the night he was killed. One detail caught my eye in that there were 2 other passengers in Adenhart's vehicle--the driver was a college cheerleader and she was killed on impact. The 3rd person in the vehicle suffered what is called "internal decapitation" and he survived after doctors somehow reattached his skull to his spine. Very grisly sounding injury.

Skaggs' wasn't a vehicle accident, but I don't think we know the cause yet.

        Re: MLB Off-Topic

I guess I'm misremembering, but I thought that Kile's death suspended baseball games throughout the league. Since no one else seems to be mentioning that, perhaps it was just the Cards-Cubs game, though (I think I remember that it was going to be at Wrigley).

I could also be mistaking that information with the realization that the MLB lockout didn't happen for all teams during that season by hearing that the Cards-Cubs game started while I was in school.

As far as other recent deaths, let's not forget Yordano Ventura. Didn't care for his antics, but I did care for his abilities and livelihood.

Speaking of passing too young, isn't this a Chris Farley line from Tommy Boy? More or less.

Another fan injured by a foul ball at Minute Maid.

Tracy Nabors said her jaw had to be wired shut after being hit by a ball during Astros batting practice. Now she's demanding changes.

The decision is abundantly clear: extend nets down the lines. This lady is right - no foul ball is worth one's health - regardless whether the fan wants to view it that way.

Well, on another note, if now in 2019 it is suddenly a part of the national consciousness that foul balls happen to lead to potential harm (perhaps because of juiced balls or otherwise), until they extend the nets and unless you're a season ticket holder, why are people electing to sit in those seats?

I made the decision to not sit behind the netting for my reasons, so it's a bit perplexing that people choose to sit behind no netting given their concerns.

You can have your netting all you want, but until they erect them, it's best you find a safer seat, including your couch at home. Again, I'm making the same exact decision(s) for the exact opposite reason.

The Yankees' Dominican team scored 38 runs today, most runs ever by one team in a professional game.

And they left 26 runners on base.

38-2. And the best part of the game? The reliever getting a save. Honorable Mention - every Yankee batter had at least 2 hits.

I saw where they may not know an official cause of death for Tyler Skaggs till October. How young can you be and die of natural causes?

ASG coming up. Sounds like Stroman won't pitch in it, but I'd imagine he's still going(as one of the bullpen guys who doesn't play).

If he doesn't go at all(which I would be surprised by since it's his first ASG) then Jays will have to get another representative.

Giles (1.20ERA in 30 relief appearances) or Gurriel (1.003OPS and .311AVG in 50 games) could be considerations.
