It's hard though...especially when I got my neighbor playing their franchise across the street...maybe I will occupy myself with Glamore Magazine.Comment

Maybe the Rays should move to NY to give 3 MLB teams there. Then all the retirees move back up from Florida to get season tickets. Really can't miss with this idea.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Doubtful Ruth faced anyone with stuff on par with Ottavino in his day, he probably would strike him out. Once Ruth had time to adjust to his slider and higher velocity then Ruth would crush him.Favorite Teams:

NFL- Cleveland Browns

Exactly, adjust for era and Ruth would kill the living daylights out of Ottavino.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club

Re: MLB Off-Topic
I think there's something to the idea that Ottavino (and the modern day relief pitcher in general) is an animal that Babe Ruth would need to adjust to. I'm not sure if that means 1 practice swing or several, but I am confident that the greatest hitter of all time (sorry, Barry) could hit Adam Ottavino. And could probably hit any other modern day pitcher, save for perhaps the nastiest Randy Johnson-type LHPs the game has ever seen.Chicago Cubs | Chicago Bulls | Green Bay Packers | Michigan WolverinesComment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
It needs to happen. Mlb needs to stop stalling and act on these issues. Leagues need to realize they don't need to stick a bunch of teams in Florida. They always claim how they want to "grow the game", but then have multiple teams in a state where teams struggle, and basically does the opposite of growing the game.
Tampa to Montreal makes the most sense to me of any relocation in any of these major leagues. Obviously travel is way better for AL East teams, and obvious rivalry specifically with jays and red sox.Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
Maybe I'm missing something but it seems like every problem the Rays have in Tampa is one the Expos had in Montreal. They had no money, a terrible stadium, fans stopped showing up, they were about to get contracted and only got saved because of the Twins lease... Not much of an upgrade from St Pete.
In other news, the Negro League museum in KC is launching a kickstarter campaign to have bobble heads made of Negro League legends. I need Josh Gibson and Satchel Paige yesterday.

Did the Rays ever have a golden era in terms of fan support?Comment

Re: MLB Off-Topic
If Montreal were to get a team, they'd have to get a new stadium (stated by Manfred himself). Their potential owners would for sure have money and won't be anywhere near as bad as the Expos old one. Fans only stopped showing up because of bad ownership who gutted the team.

The Rays first season they were above the AL average in attendance, they've been under 20 years in a row since. Montreal was above the NL average from 79-83 and under the NL average 19 seasons in a row afterwards.Originally posted by G PericoIf I ain't got it, then I gotta take it

BTW Manfred is a realist. He doesn't need to see a new stadium before Montreal gets a team back but there better be a solid plan in place and preparations to build a stadium. The Montreal group already has 2 or 3 locations in mind. The first 2-3 years the team will have to play in the Big O.Member of the Official OS Bills Backers Club
