That's why he said "stay there... indefinitely" instead of "get there"

            Mets fire Callaway

Could Joe Girardi be returning to the Big Apple?

Either that or Joe Maddon is going to have an extremely busy 2020 season managing a half-dozen or so different ball clubs.

I used to manage 30 plus the minors all the time.

                    Re: MLB Off-Topic

I think Mark Loretta has vaulted to the top of my wish list for Cubs manager. Plus, I can do the Monty Python bit from The Life of Brian about wanting to be called Loretta.

After interviewing this week for the open Cubs managerial seat, Mark Loretta made several comments to a Chicago-area radio station …

Takeaways: Bullpen was bad, defense was bad, and the offense strikes out too much. True, true, and very true. He also mentioned that the team had "a lot of optional hitting practice and fielding practice" and that "getting together in practice more often is very valid."

Now, I can't be sure if Loretta is just regurgitating all the stuff Theo Epstein has already mentioned in the media, but he's at least telling me what I want to hear. Basically, Joe Maddon had gotten way too comfortable and the players probably loved him for all he let them get away with (kind of like how students love teachers that give them A's for doing almost no work).

Sounds like Joe Maddon will be announced as the new Angels manager soon

So the Rays can pack the house for the playoffs but can’t get **** for regular season.

I get it’s the playoffs but how come attendance isn’t an issue now?

Right? That place has been live in the playoffs though. I didn't even know their were that many Devil Ray fans.

I guess that's why they wanted Montreal to take half the regular season games.
