It was unofficially retired last year in that no player wore it. Now it's official.

what's more surprising is how long it took both Philadelphia and Toronto to get on board. 5 players wore 32 after Halladay left Toronto and 5 players wore 34 after Halladay left Philadelphia. neither organisation thought much about the matter until his tragic end.

So reportedly the Steve Cohen deal to buy the Mets is off and negotiations are ending.

Wilpons just can’t stop torturing Mets fans. They can’t even sell the team correctly.

Many times its simply season ticket people doing so. It's a legitimate business. I know people who live downtown here who sees certain guys around downtown all the time and all they do is sell tickets, and they happen to drive expensive cars so clearly business is good.

But also, teams themselves profit from stubhub sales. I remember a report a year or two ago about how Jays are profiting on sales from stubhub. So they basically profit twice from the sale of the same ticket.

Jays rule is that only HOF players get their number retired. Alomar and Halladay are their only 2.

I thought Phillies retired it back in 2018.

yeah, not a fan of teams using that as a stipulation. Blue Jays should have retired 1 & 37 loongg ago IMO

Well, ticket brokers are also a legitimate business and are a large portion of stub hub tickets across the entire MLB.

I don't know the specifics of what happened here but if the Red Sox employees were getting somewhat of a kickback that would be where the funny business is.

BREAKING: Pete Rose asks MLB for reinstatement, cites no punishment for Astros players for electronic signs-stealing. "There cannot be one set of rules for Mr. Rose and another for everyone else," Rose's 20-page petition to Manfred says. https://t.co/9CRCHBXkUy

I used to be a staunch defender on NL rules but I'd love to see the DH next season. It's too much of an uneventful AB to me.

I bet Chipper could've lasted a couple more seasons if there was a DH, honestly.

It does suck when the pitcher comes up to bat during a rally, but that is part of the game and one of the chess pieces that you have to deal with. Not only that 1 batter, but it also affects the strategy of how the other team pitches to the guys in front of the 9th hitter.

I'm pretty sure I'll stop buying season tickets when they go to the DH. I know it wont change anything, but I'll feel better about it. The DH just doesnt interest me.

Edit- not abandoning baseball, but I'll just watch at home
