I can't stand him, but I don't think even my hate for him could keep him out of the Hall, it's just too difficult to justify.

      More importantly, Susan Slusser:

"Well, with Bud Selig elected to the Hall of Fame and La Russa already there, I'll be adjusting my HoF voting accordingly."

"Senseless to keep steroid guys out when the enablers are in the Hall of Fame. I now will hold my nose and vote for players I believe cheated. "

So the net positive out of Bud being in the Hall is writers will start looking at the Hall of Fame as a museum of history for a game and not some cathedral of great men. I'll take it. Let's get this sorted out ASAP, I wanna see A-Rod go in first ballot!

UA and Fanatics are replacing Nike and Majestic in 2020 uniform deal.

The on-field deal between MLB, Under Armour and Fanatics is scheduled to begin in 2020 and run for 10 years, but sources say it could start before that should Majestic decide to bow out early.

Is Slusser being serious or sarcastic?

Very serious. She's been on heavy defense on twitter ever since making the statement. She's not saying she's voting for only cheaters but that it won't sway her vote as much as it did before. There's a character clause in the HoF voting that she always held in high regard. Not so much any more.

Same, $7 at best for me.

We got $7 for lunch, $10 for dinner. Breakfast was always complimentary at the hotel.

Played with a guy that transferred from NC State; he bought a diamond engagement ring from the per diem they got over Spring Break.

$30 per day does seem like a small amount for professional athletes. But I guess with chefs in the clubhouse, they only need to pay for 1 meal per day.

She may be taking a beating on Twitter but I respect her for this. As I said in the HOF thread I'd have been more comfortable bestowing this honor on Selig posthumously (or not at all) as he basically looked the other way when Stevie Wonder could tell you the game is screwed up with all those roided up players. It didn't help that Selig then went on a witch hunt in order to make it look like he cared.

At least there was a greater good to this as baseball has the most stringent drug testing program in North American sports but boy, it would've been better if they were actually proactive about it rather than reactive.

The BBWAA passed a measure today mandating that all Hall of Fame ballots be public starting in 2018. It remains voluntary for this election

I honestly don't think it matters, the guys who vote for ridiculous hometown favorites and against conventional wisdom will relish the attention they get from this, no one else will care, no ballots will change.

It'll make Twitter feel better though, they'll have someone to aim their death threats at. More likely to be a mess than a help IMO.

I do think it matters, people don't like to get embarrassed and once they stammer trying to defend their ballots they will feel the heat do to their stupidity. Time to present cogent, rational cases for their choices. I bet we get a unanimous selection soon enough.

Looks like Shohei will officially have to wait until he's 25 to come over, as Ken Rosenthal said they won't make an exception. This, the international spending cap, the clubhouse attendants making less because dues going down, man I do not like some of these concessions the union made.

Lmao. I hate the Daily News. And who is their graphic designer? They should find a new one. Fast.
"It may well be that we spectators, who are not divinely gifted as athletes, are the only ones able to truly see, articulate and animate the experience of the gift we are denied. And that those who receive and act out the gift of athletic genius must, perforce, be blind and dumb about it -- and not because blindness and dumbness are the price of the gift, but because they are its essence." - David Foster Wallace
