I know the Yankees tried a program where they opened the gates early for several summer games last year so fans could come see home batting practice.
For weekdays, maybe it's not as big a deal to have, but weekend games specifically this would be great.

Get to ballpark by 1130 or 12, see your team out there for 30-60 mins or however long BP is, all before the game even starts. It boosts fan experience without impacting the game or even spending $.

If anything, teams might make more money. Not just by getting kids hooked and making more longtime fans, but if they're at a game longer, they're more likely to buy an extra drink or snack.

Was thinking, whenever the NL adopts the DH rule MLB should go back to only having 1 MVP.

Stop making it out like it is inevitable that the NL will get the DH! It hurts my soul

Random, but I am really appreciative right now of the fact that the game is played the same way throughout the year, April to October and the umps don't randomly start calling pitches in the other batters box strikes because it's the postseason.

Very much, but that's kind of what I mean. Even the small issues we have, there is a fix. There is nothing to be done about fouling in the NBA except in certain instances, it's crazy. Feels like wrestling sometimes.

I'm still on the side that we need "half robot half human " umps in the sense that the tech tells us if the ball crosses any part of the plate. Ump says if it's high or low.

They have goal line technology in soccer, and tennis has a tracker too for the ball, dont think baseball would have an issue seeing if a ball crossed the plate.

I don't get why people don't want an automated zone either...a ball/strike call is such a HUGE swing in an AB so if we already have tools available, use them!

Honestly, it should be viewed as an avenue to work around the terrible, like Angel Hernandez.

What is the point of splitting duties when we already have tech that can decide high or low?

If that tech works, then great. I just figure height is based on batting stance and height and all that. Theres no real fixed zone. At least with the plate, it's a fixed size no matter who is batting.

Don't you think Microsoft or Google or whoever could design glasses for umps to wear with the strike zone showing digitally to show if the ball catches the zone or not?

Was thinking about this last night. In baseball, whether it is the regular season or the postseason, umpires call it the same way all the way. They may have a crappy strike zone in the regular season and bring the same crappy strike zone in October but goddammit they are consistent

I don't know about you guys, but when I am upset with an umpire's call, I'm glad that that aspect is a portion I can be upset about.

That sounds stupid when I read that back, but I'm not upset thinking: "Man, I wish there were automated strike zones." I'm just thinking: "Man, I wish that call went our way."

I also like chastising terrible umpires.

Throughout every sport that I watch, I only want this. I have no issue when I disagree with a call, but if you're always calling it that way, I'm less likely to get irritated. Consistency is the only metric that brings me agitation.
