They traded 3 starters with one coming back, looks like a few AAA guys will get their chance.

STL is confident that Lackey will stay for that 500k next year, or at least work out some kind of extension. If not, I don't see them giving up those guys.

In a perfect world, Lackey retires instead of playing for dirt cheap and Craig returns to form for the Sox, lol.

You guys actually don't think the upgrade of Kelly -> Lackey at league minimum is worth Craig? He's not even above replacement. ZiPS has him at like 108 wRC+ rest of season. He's not that great and neither is Kelly. Completely fair deal.

DH and a #4/5 for Lackey, we'll see how this works out. We aren't rebuilding, just retooling...50-50 on that but I didn't really expect a full rebuild.

I wouldn't panic, honestly. You guys can easily replace Craig and I don't see Kelly's stuff translating well in the AL East.

You get a dirt cheap Lackey to help your rotation. It's not that bad of a deal. The Masterson deal wasn't bad either, you dealt one of your many (many, many, many) OF prospects (who was never going to see time in your major league OF) for a shot at a guy who would have cost a lot more if it weren't for an injury.
