You guys actually don't think the upgrade of Kelly -> Lackey at league minimum is worth Craig? He's not even above replacement. ZiPS has him at like 108 wRC+ rest of season. He's not that great and neither is Kelly. Completely fair deal.

I didn't like the Masterson deal yesterday, but after thinking it over, it wasn't that bad of a deal.

However, I don't like giving up on Kelly this early (could use in pen if doesn't work out as a starter) and I REALLY don't like trading away Craig, a guy we have locked up for a few more years (forget exact amount), simply because he's having a down season.

You trade for Masterson and take your shot at the playoffs with what you have then. If it works, great, if not, you make decisions in the offseason on which direction you want to go.

We rid ourselves of John Lackey. Nothing will ruin all the positive vibes running through my body today.

Red Sox moving an outfielder next? Pretty crowded out there.

Rather move Napoli, Craig in the OF doesn't please me.

No I actually don't.

Kelly is pretty bad and Craig isn't quite as valuable as Lackey will be to you guys. You then open up spots for Oscar and Fatt Adams and you guys are better offer than before.

He's the typical Noo Yawk sports radio host. He's never gonna stop with the screaming but I find that he does know a thing or two about baseball so it isn't too bad. Just turn down the TV a little when he's on.

He's certainly less annoying than Bayless or Screamin' A. Smith.

How is Lackey valuable to a team hitting .250, and already has an ERA of 3.4ish?

Kelly is young. I don't think he'll ever have the stuff to be a starter but he could've been an asset in the bullpen for the Cards.

And Craig isn't valuable? The guy is a career .290 hitter as it stands right now that was locked up for the next few years. Lackey is 35 and isn't pitching for the Cards after this season, and won't lead us to the World Series.

Bad trade.
