    why??? :

We just took on a guy with a 5+ ERA that in his last 10 starts has avg to pitch 4 innings per start.

If this was our best solution to pitching, we should've just brought someone up from the minors.

Not a fan of this deal at all.

You dealt an old AA outfielder who's rule 5 eligible (I think?) for a groundball and peripherals pitcher.

His groundball pitch must not be working this year. In his last 5 starts he has given up 5 ER three different times.

Its not so much that we dealt away Ramsey, just feel like we shortchanged ourselves in the deal.

They think his knee problems from this year have messed up his mechanics. Once healthy they feel he'll go back to what he was last season.

And that makes the trade even worse. How long until his knee problems are taken care of? He's a free agent at the end of the season.

He's only pitched a total of 9 innings in his last 3 starts.

This has the feel of a team in contention making a move just to make a move.

He's on the DL right now and scheduled to come off this weekend. I'm sure you'll find out then.

Red Sox and O's "close on deal" for Lester according to Peter Abraham. Sox would get a pitcher in turn.

So it's either Harvey, Gausman, Bundy, or Rodriguez. I'd be surprised if the Red Sox only get one of those guys.

                          I guess we will.

Bad deal IMO, but hopefully he finds his 2013 form upon his return.

I really wouldn't worry too much. Ramsey was never going to see the ML roster and we get a guy that strikes out nearly a batter per inning and also has a ~60% groundball rate. The Indians have the 2nd worst defensive team in the league and we have one of the best defensive infields in all of baseball.

Even if Masterson is average for the rest of the year, we still get a guy that will eat innings for a 24 year old OF that is already behind Grichuk, Piscotty, Taveras, Craig, Jay, Bourjos and Holliday.

I love the trade as I'm a fan of Masterson's. And honestly, how often has Mo made a trade that seemed like nothing, help us make a deep playoff push?

Edit: Actually the Indians are by far the worst defensive team in the league (in regards to DRS).

Sox have always liked Bundy. I see him involved.

Heard Miguel Gonzalez's name pop up as well.

EDIT: Multiple sources saying Lester deal is not close.

                                NOOO

Glad to hear the updated info that a deal is not close.

As for the STL-CLE trade I think it makes sense for St. Louis. If Masterson can return to form he'll do well there. I think his style of pitching translates more to the NL. The Cards have a great track record of taking other teams' poop and turning into gold at least from the pitching side of things.

BTW I was just looking up Masterson on Baseball-Reference, I didn't know he was born in Jamaica!
